If you are a Stryper fan this is a "Must See" interview. Robert Sweet is a great interview filled with lots of road stories and band history. Stryper has stood the test of time navigating their way through all the changes in music over the last 30+ years. They are still playing and recording, and Robert Sweet tells 80sMRB all about it. Thank you Rob...! Don't forget to hit that like button along with SUBSCRIBE!

Robert Sweet is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. He's also one of the very most talented drummers in all of music. His work on some of Bill Menchen's remastered albums was nothing short of brilliant, and Robert's solo album does not get enough credit for his songwriting chops, musicianship, and tongue-in-cheek lyrics. Robert is a pure pleasure, on every level. One of my favourite musicians of all time.

I always felt that Robert looked the most unapproachable. But he's really down to earth and cool. They truly are an underated band. I have always been a fan. Keep on keeping on.

I like Stryper and they’re all nice guys. But I find it sad that Rob wouldn’t mention Jesus in the entire interview, Jesus is everything and he should show the respect to the almighty and give the glory to who its deserved!!

Him explaining how he almost got killed at a big rock festival shows how much he loves big rock festivals is the most rock and roll thing I’ve ever heard

He got hit with a lock?? And he did not end up with a broken ankle?? Whoever that was who threw that ought to be ashamed of themselves! 😠

I saw Stryper in San Antonio in the early 90's There was a long line and they was behind schedule. Everyone was excited and patient. Robert came out and when people recognized him he said he was really sorry for the delay, they were having some tech problems and he really appreciated our patience. It was totally nice of him to do that. Awesome show...

Stryper have gotten better with age - they are at their peak it seems these days. Loved them in the 80's, still love them now.

Been a fan since 1985...it's crazy that in S. America, Europe and Asia they can still pack stadiums....it's just here in the USA where the masses evidently crave crap music and they end up playing clubs...

My wife Ursula and I finally saw Stryper at Jaxx in Springfield VA for my 45th B'day in 2005...Robert and Oz came outside to meet the crowd before the show. I got a picture with each of them and autographs. Robert's been a major influence on my metal drumming ever since '85 although I've been rock drumming since I was 14. I also rededicated my life to Jesus Christ through this band in '86 and joined a full gospel church after auditioning for their local rock band Spirit Ministries. Later "87-'89 I was in a power trio called Vessel and our opening debut just happened to be the same night Stryper made an unscheduled Tour stop and played Hampton Coliseum. From '87-'89 we covered 7 Stryper songs, 5 Whitecross, 2 Barren Cross, 2 Idle Cure, etc. and we got to open for Whitecross, where I also (unknown to me) got to audition as we played. Had I known I would have answered the "interview" questions a little better. I've also been the main worship drummer since '87 at the same church, playing the same Roland drums, with the SAME pair of Aquarian X-10 sticks, and have been leading worship with my wife for the past 17 years. Singing and drumming is hard, leading is harder...to God be the glory! Bless Stryper 777

In McAllen, Texas in 1989 La Villa Real Convention Center - Robert Sweet came out in full Yellow and Black attire to meet the fans in line. He just said Hello and told us to enjoy the show tonight. What a great drummer, performer, and person. Thanks for the memories.
