Art teacher here and I just love your method! I can’t wait to introduce you to my students. Middle and high schoolers who are often fearful of making “mistakes.” I agree with your advice and words of wisdom. Plus, your voice is soothing to listen to. Keep telling your stories while you paint! ❤️

Lovely to see you in full flow Stuart, I hope you are feeling better and raring to go. I love the painting, there are times I look at it while you are painting and to my untrained eye it looks glorious and done ,then you approach it once more with your brush and I inwardly scream ( no) You then calm my fears by adding magic. I wish you well Stuart, you brighten my day and make an old woman very happy, keep spreading your magic.

Shapes, shapes ... Contrasts and colours, and texture. But the shapes of colours to make the effect of trees and areas of land and so on are so wonderful.

So pleased you are feeling better and able to make more videos, which in my opinion are fabulous. Just love your artwork, and being a Brit I also love your sense of humour...you have me in stitches many a time. Your reference to your college days in this video just slayed me. For goodness sake Stuart, please stay healthy so you can continue imparting your wonderful talent, on many levels, to us all.

I totally enjoyed that lesson and the resulting product of your imagination, creative expertise and intuitive choices. Love the colors at play in the mix of suggested and definitive landscape living: alive in awe and wonder; all rise toward the aerial drama fomenting a turbulence and churning up thunder in challenge of the beauteous day dawning. Such a gloriously dichotomous vision of life!

👋Hi Stuart, your technique is a fabulous way to create a wonderful painting. I find that landscapes created from memory or your own imagination look less stiff than landscapes strictly painted from a reference photo. The sky looks great, the storm clouds seem to be in motion and the trees sway in the wind. Only four colors are enough so far to leave an excellent impression of a possible spot on earth that actually exists. You almost want to know what is hidden behind the hills in the distance and what is going on there. There always remains something mysterious that you want to fathom and enough room for your own imagination, which makes your paintings extremely interesting. - Thanks Stuart, I enjoyed every minute, look forward to more work from you, wishing you a speedy recovery and a pleasant weekend. 🧡

So lovely again this painting, dear Sir. One question if possible. After you gesso the panel, do you coat it with some paint before you start painting, or start painting straight on the gesso surface? Thanks very much. Your admirer forever. ❤

A bientôt, Laurette. P.S. : Ai mis votre vidéo en pause 🙂

I see you have a lot of happy accidents in your paintings. My Dad was a musician and he said about musical accidentals, “They shouldn’t be called ‘accidentals,’ they should be called ‘on purposes.’ So when I encounter an accident when I paint in your classes, I will treat them like they were there on purpose.
