The dark is scary, deep water is scary, big fisch is scary, but I have a little bit of fear of places with basically no living beings, and the Neverend or Poolrooms or whatever for the 1st 2 levels is devoid of anything besides poolfish and kelp. Autophobia?

Honestly after seeing a youtuber with 1 million subs AND thalassophobia go through the entirety of subnautica 1 with his friend, conquering it, and then going on to play below zero, i wouldn't be against seeing Kaboodle do the same XD (KZfaqr is Josh from Ragegamingvideos btw, him and his friend Cotton are known for their Monster Hunter videos)

Yeah…you wouldn’t last 5 minutes in subnautica…especially outside of the Safe Shallows, and if you go into a deeper area, either go to the bottom as quickly as possible, or don’t look down

Though I don’t have thalassaphobia (honestly I find deep underwater soothing in a curiosity way) I do have one experience where I probably got the closest I could to having what thalassaphobia feels like cause I was surface diving in the deep ocean, and no matter how much it wasn’t a fear of mine there’s something deeply terrifying when looking into the abyss.

I saw a video where this guy with thalassophobia played subnautica, and his friend was guiding him. He recommended his friend lean back away from the screen so that the immersion isn’t too real, and to pause the game whenever he needed to. So IF you ever play subnautica, then maybe keep these tips in mind.

I'm still a bit confused how a digital ocean triggers fear given you are normally super amazing, but it's good you went back to challenge and conquer your fear. Still, that anglerfish clearly has some bugs if it can't sense a poolfish that close by.

Your brain existed before computers and while you, as an educated creature, can tell the difference between a digital ocean and a real one, to the instinctive parts of the brain that react to danger, it doesn't really matter. It just sees the danger and reacts to it.

The main reason why you probably weren’t as scared when ash was fighting with you during your first trip was because the arguments you two had took your mind off why you were scared in the first place. Taking your mind off of your fears by thinking of other things, like an argument, makes the situation less scary

Fun fact: Did you know that sometimes submariners aboard American nuclear submarines will be allowed out for a swim? Unfortunately, having the submarine left breaching the surface for a long time is a huge security risk and goes against all the rules, soooo... The submariners get out to go for a swim, and the submarine resubmerges under the water. And it's just them.... and miles upon miles of open ocean in all directions... and the things that dwell in the deep. I hope this cheers you up!

8:20 I have thallisaphobia and I played Subnautica and it took almost a full year to complete the story and believe me it was PAINFUL 😭😭😭 but also actually very fun! You should definitely play it, it helped me overcome my fears a bit too! Also it helped so much to actually be able to pause and compose myself lmao

i also have that phobia but its a little more tame i dont freak with not seeing the end i freak out at the thought of possibly DROWING i actualy am petrefied if im in water and i cant swim so that just makes it worse and i cant even learn how to swim because of it i understand your pain when u get into the last one (also i gained the fear from my gawd dam brother ignoring me when strugling to stay up and when i was underwater BLOCKING THE WAY UP)

I am a person who likes horror. Not gonna lie, I like making my bases in Minecraft in scary places. In the sky, Ancient City, DimDoors pocket dimension, religious buildings, graveyards, once it was a hospital/hospice. The list goes on. I would, honest to god, LOVE to make a base in that dimension, on the second layer, make access to the third and put my storage room down there. Naturally I would need something like DimDoors to exit and enter my base, but hey. And I can just imagine how much discomfort people would have in my base. Especially people who are afraid of the dark, the ocean or liminal spaces. And there I am, a being of chaos and madness, happily flourishing, spiting euclid and having a grand ol' time doing so.
