Recently, I've been coding a custom Minecraft horror dimension to keep a secret on Content SMP, and it ended up being my biggest project. So instead of only having three people play the mod like how it was originally planned, I figured I'd invite a bunch of KZfaqr friends to experience it for the first time so I can terrorize them

I have severe thalassophobia but I have never been scared to that level of unrealistic cringe. She has pick-me vibes but that's just my take. Map wasn't even that scary either imo, hard to be scared of a block game lol.

@Vorcupine sure, it sounds silly. But I actually get really scared in regular Minecraft too, without the mods. So the added darkness and an unknown monster really made me feel for her. All the jump cuts to other perspectives of people messing around really lightened the fear for the video, but I know I wouldn't be able to jump in there if I was there. I'd definitely just close the game and call it a day lol (I actually did that a few times when play Sea of Thieves with friends. Can't play it alone without someone doing all the swimming. But got thrown out by a kraken once and that instantly sent me into panic mode.)

as cool as that would be, it would also probably be editing HELL trying to keep track of every different perspective. It was even mentioned near the beginning that was why rat was trying to keep everyone together. It would be cool, but require far too much editing work

This would be massively improved by the inclusion of a third Grandgousier, in the shape of a viperfish, which can dash rapidly in a straight line and make someone walking in the middle of the group suddenly vanish mid-sentence.

Yt parties, online negations, ect. In the past 5 years-ish, the Yt platform has gotten so connected in the gaming-genre that one popular person in the niche will have 5-10 other branches to other popular people through some event/party which will keep expanding as time goes on. (An example is Martin-the frog dude, and astral spiff, who have gotten to know bigger Yt celebrities at these YT parties, and have told there experiences in their Yt channels. )

modders kinda know each other just by association; fundy (and i think boosfer?) competed a couple of times in events so they also have wider reach; SMPs help too so there are quite a few ways for them to meet each other heilamwether said it well here didn't notice their comment at first

That’s basically how I was when I was in chat for another yt channel playing this mod. My goal was to sound helpful and “leading” them to an exit, but all the while my real goal was to lead them to level 3 to see them getting eaten.

I need more of these types of things. Like a maze runner type one would be cool. Of course with your own spin like being chased by a rat swarm that have a scary jumpscare and look when they kill. for some reason the level 2 just strikes like an inherent fear in me, I really don't like dark tunnels, and also with the added esthetic. The only places I've seen that look kind of like that are in Poland, I have family there, and it's like a post-soviet vibe with some added claustrophobia.

@@fumarc4501 I think just a little more ambient sounds would be amazing for all 3 levels(I don't have kofi, so i didn't play the mod myself, but ig there is enough ambience on level 3), but for level 2 especially, I think its actually the place where people would spend most of their time playing this mod, getting ready to meet the grandgosier

@@Dragonseer666yeah that’s my idea. It does not direct harm or attacks. When noticed or chased, it will run away but if you follow it you’ll be lead to places you’ve not been before. Increasing your chances to finding the rooms/items you need. Getting you all turned around, or helping you unintentionally. All the while making creepy sounds. Maybe even a noise that sounds like laughing… but horribly so.

One thing that scares me about this mod is the fact that the monsters eyes are sideways. If you don't understand let me explain. Eyes facing forward = predator. Eyes facing sideways = pray. That's why dogs eyes face forward but a chickens eyes face sideways. The Grandgousier is the pray in that world, not the true predator.

okay so this is actually super cool!! it's less that the way the eyes face actually determines it and more that it tends to overlap. forward-facing eyes mean they need really good frontwards depth perception, and sideways-facing eyes mean they need a really wide field of view. so with these guys, it's really easy to imagine they're poolfish but bigger, cannibalizing each other down in the dark and growing endlessly bigger. if they started from poolfish, it makes sense they'd have side eyes, especially because they're faster than the players down there, with a mouth so big they don't Need accuracy, because chances are even if they aren't spot on they'll still get prey in their mouth

This fact doesn’t really match fish, only mammals. The vast majority of fish have sideways facing eyes since they’re in a space where they basically have full omnidirectional movement, even sharks have eyes on their sides

It is with all my hope that more is done with this. The absolute enthrallment I have with this map is probably more than anything else bar none. It is my genuine hope and prayer that more is done with it. Not necessarily more for that floor, but additional floors before or even after. Replicating that slow, tense feeling and putting someone out of their element is the absolute dream and you do it so well. Also, I can tell with these videos that you are proud of what you built and you absolutely should be. Everyone is amazed with it including myself. However, if you're looking to give everyone the best experience then them being separated into pairs would probably be the best thing you could do even if just temporarily. The otherworldly experiences crafted here are praiseworthy and then some, all three floors included. Amazing work.

Really great design on that last stage, I don't have talassophobia at all and it makes me nervous anyway. Minecraft is a goofy game to turn into horror, and still you manage it, so good on you

I was genuinely blown away by the custom mod, the idea behind it, and the massive backstory of the SMP that made it important. Hopefully alternate ending dimensions becomes a thing in the Minecraft community I'd love to see more.
