Thanks for providing the information in your video's. I'm in the process of working out materials for a Workshop build I"ll be undertaking soon, and your information is very helpful. On the subject of short pencils, my kids have a few colouring pencils that they used to throw out, but I've convinced them to save them, so I can make pencil pots by casting those short unusable pencils in resin, then turning a pencil pot on the Lathe for them, just an idea.

Shane, may have been asked before, but the blue colour of the wood. Has it been treated some way? Over here in the Netherlands, outdoor wood for decks, etc. can be wolmanized and has a greenish colour. So what about the blue?

I might sound like a knucklehead asking this, but what happens when you get to the end and the stud spacing isn’t exactly 450mm? For example if you have a wall that is 2600mm long, there is an odd spacing at the end. Do you just leave it or would you recalculate your 450 centre’s to be something else?
@diyforknuckleheads
@diyforknuckleheads 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ayla....no such thing as a dumb question 👍.....No need to recalculate.....just leave it as it is.....just as long as it's not larger than 450. Hope that helps 👍😁🇦🇺
@northgork
@northgork 3 жыл бұрын
So what do you do with "the required centers" once you have found them?
@diyforknuckleheads
@diyforknuckleheads 3 жыл бұрын
The centres are what distance your main studs need to be apart. They can be closer but not further. The distance relates to the start of one stud to the start of the next stud.....hope that makes sense 👍

@maurocalcagnomontpilier9837 5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate.. What happens when you are building a wall frame and placing your studs every 450 mm but when you get close to the end of that wall the last space is less than 450 mm. Would you put on that last stud no matter how short the distance to the corner is?
@diyforknuckleheads
@diyforknuckleheads 5 жыл бұрын
G'day Mauro, if the space is less than 450mm, you don't need to add in another stud. Good luck 👍
@kimshirley7014

Not typical here in the US where our plates are placed flat with the bottom plate a single board. I see your plates are placed vertical and doubled . Common sense would tell me that your process would make for a stronger structure. Your plates are built like laminated beams. I like the concept!
@albertkelly7129
@albertkelly7129 9 жыл бұрын
Kim Shirley if i understand Shane right, he temporarily nails both the top and bottom plates together, so when he marks the stud distances hes doing both at the same time so they will match perfectly. when time comes to construct, he'll separate them so only a single flat top and bottom plate is left just like you guys do it.
