Just had to pull this up because we were reading the book (my 6yo and I) and damn I’m crying? Haha... it’s just a beautiful song/story for kids (and adults). Thank you Tim Minchin for giving us so many funny satirical songs and then these... sweet and beautiful ones.

***** I went and saw Matilda last night in Seattle. The show was a disaster. The props weren't working. The cast was doing a wonderful job working around the problems, and the music was brilliant, but the show was shut down halfway through. At one point, Matilda was supposed to be making two dolls talk to each other. The prop department couldn't find the dolls, so the girl just motioned with her hands. On the plus side, I was seated next to two of the mothers of the child cast members, and got to hang out with the cast after the show. The kids and parents were delightful, and I never use that word.

Crying uncontrollably.. probably lost the initial goal somewhere on the road. (I got the profession, the job, and the mindset I was aiming for but I still cry on this..)

it isnt really that depressing in matilda but when tim minchin performs it its different (i know he wrote it and the other matilda songs)

@@emilynicholls3360 Idk, it's sort of depressing in Matilda too lol. Not full scale massively depressing, more of a bittersweet feeling. Ms. Honey sings it with the kids too, and like Tim, it's clear that she hasn't stuck to any of the things she thought she'd do as a little girl.
