Fl is the best for sequencing and even create MIDI orchestrations, is my perfect DAW for that. But S1 is superior for recording. In S1 you can record, produce, mix and master a piece that has multiple BPM changes. In Fl Studio I always had headaches when I had to change the tempo and there was audio and recording involved. In S1 the management of VST plugins is fast and intuitive, while in FL you have to do a lot more. However, FL's Stock plugins are infinitely the best of ANY DAW, both its synthesizers and effects. Piano Roll = FL Studio Recording = Studio One Mixing = Studio One Stock Plugins = Fl Studio forever Mastering = Studio One (even has a independent instance for that). Composing = Fl Studio (electronic or MIDI/Kontakt/etc...) Studio One is good too, but Fl Studio's piano roll is always superior. Producing = Both are great Buy = Fl Studio / updates for life. Learning curve = Studio One (Fl Studio is one of the most complex daws I've ever used, i don't know why people says is for beginners). Quality = Your hardware. Vsti management = Studio One With FL Studio you can't have complex hardware setups, BUT you can have complex MIDI setups.

hmmm. im a S1 User. You forget the easiest way to create routing, bussing, fx-channeling just w drag n drop. And the fader flip function in this context is awesome in great sessions. For example, when you select many channels and set an SEND to a fx, s1 will create a new channelstrip with that FX and route all selected channels automatically to that FX-Channel. Awesome feature. But...the best DAW is the DAW that fits to your workflow.

@@frankblack1014 while you can use either for both things, my recording bias is studio one. You can get the artist version with any presonus or black lion audio interface which is more than enough for what you are stating. If you are going to get into having someone mix your songs I would recommend recording into pro tools. If you was looking at making beats at some point I would buy a presonus interface and buy fl studio which gives you both software options and a good interface for under 400 dollars

Wich is HUGE for those who work with midi like I do. I'm still learning FL, but Studio one is superior for recording and editing audio. I also use Reaper(wich I'm most familiar with and been using longest), and for mixing its the goat. Its pretty great for audio too...but it kinda sucks for working with midi. Everything he said about Fl was wrong at 7:00 you can set in settings to Detach or to open multiple channels at same times, at 7:37 you can already do That, all you have to do is drag the sample on a track playlist and select audio or instrument track, same with instrument, drag it from browser or Right click on a playlist track then Track mode > Instrument track> and select your Instrument and you pretty much have a linear workflow like S1 and other DAWS

Been using Cockos REAPER since it's 1st version and haven't had a reason to change yet. However, I recently got Studio One 6 Professional for free with a new interface I bought. After seeing this video might have to give it a try now since it seems to be very similar to REAPER which I love. Also those Presonus stock plugins came in very highly recommended by many of my friends as well. The only thing that has me on the fence is that this is yet another DAW that is CPU/resource heavy. It's one of the main reason I have stuck with REAPER since it's inception. There is just no reason for DAWs to be so resource heavy with modern day tech. Still will be giving it a try none the less.

@ekiamediambedeka5188

Should we still do such comparisons while we all know it is all an individuals choice and preference? To me the best DAW is the one that one is most comfortably with. When it comes to this the best example I like to give is an off-topic example. I am working with Photoshop since 1999, version 5.5. when it comes to editing pictures I can still use that version and do anything that the latest 2023 version can do. Or my most comfortable DAW for beat production is still Orion 8.6.2. Even though it is no longer in production. Occasionally I do use studio one. For me when it comes to step sequencing Orion is my King. Voice recording, mixing and mastering for that I prefer Studio One since it's very first release 2009. I love to master the in and outs of a software instead of following the hype. I did of cause tried old schools like Reason, Cubase, Cakewalk, Protols, FL formally Fruity loops etc and I can work with all of the. As for the perfect DAW there is none but with Orion and Studio One I have found my musical home.

Great video. I was personally using FL before and then I switched to Reaper and sometimes I use S1, they are all amazing DAWs. I personally think S1 is far more producer focused than Reaper and even the tools and workflows are setup very much to make producing fast and intuitive with some very innovative tools whereas Reaper really excels at mixing with very powerful routing capabilities. But I do have some complaints for S1. I do think the design for S1 is a bit lack luster and by design I mean the fundamentals of the program and how it works. it seems like they are adding tools to compensate for a less flexible design instead of rewriting how fundamentally the program works. For example with the cord track, in Reaper you can pretty much emulate a lot of features of the chord track without moving your audio around too much. Since in Reaper, you can have audio, midi, stereo, mono, video all in the same track, you can very easily convert audio to midi and midi to audio in Reaper and detect the chords without moving around the audio too much. But in S1, I think a better design would've if you can turn any track into a chord track by just selecting a section of an audio and then S1 shows the chords of that selected section and then quickly right click to turn it into a midi event but I suppose to be able to have feature set like that, they would have to recode and redo the core functionality of S1. Same goes for multi-instruments in S, In Reaper you can just chain bunch of VSTi plugins in the FX chain but for that you'd need the multi-instruments in S1 but that has some dope features like being able to limit certain part of the keys to be played by one VSTi and changing pitches of each without changing the notes etc. There are also many other examples of stuff like this in S1.

"btw, fl studio is not a linear DAW,so like you've mentioned you can place everything averywhere and you're right,if you have a big template you will get confused as to where everything" That's wrong, you can use FL as a linear DAW but beatmakers don't know about it lol, instead of adding instrument from channel rack you can drag it from browser into a Track playlist, or you can right click on a Track playlist Track mode > Instrument track > and select your instrument, that way it automatically routes it to a mixer/auto names it, every automation you do for that sound will automatically be grouped, its basically same workflow as a Linear daw. And you do same with samples, instead of putting them in channel rack or randomly in playlist you put them on a Track Playlist and select audio track if you want waveform or Insturment track if you want to make it in a midi pattern.

I use both DAWS, What I like about FL is that you can detect the tempo of any sample, you don't have to tap the tempo to find it, Studio one does have the option where it automatically tries to match it but its not accurate every time and sometimes it dosen't even work, another thing I like is that if you don;t have a midi keyboard with you, you can use pretty much use all notes on PC/laptop keyboard and also select from what note it starts, for example Q can start from C note or F note if I want to write in F minor for ex. Another thing FL is good at are the stock synths, they are a little bit more complicated to learn but more powerfull than any stock synths and they don't use that much CPU, another good plugin is the stock Frequency splitter, you can split in 3 bands and route each band to different mixer/fx, you can achieve similar in S1with Splitter but it dosen't have the Linear Phase mode and it gets more confusing after you add more plugins on each band + you have to open it everytime, the Patcher in FL is also crazy good, you can do crazy chains with instruments and FX, all in one instance, smthing similar is Bitwig grid but not quite, its different What I like more about Studio one is the Event FX, ChordTracker/Melodyne/Layers/, a different workflow that's a little bit better in some cases, the stretching algorithm is better than FL, and the audio editing is faster, it also has a video track which Fl dosen't. Edit: Another thing about Fl, if you load an analazyer like Voxengo SPAN or an EQ on "Current mixer" you can analyze separtely every mixer channel with just one instance of SPAN/EQ, I don't think that's possible in Studio One or mby I don't know how to do it. Another thing you can do with "Current mixer" is load any plugin like a distortion/reverb then select different channels in the mixer and see how those mixer chanels would sound if they had that distortion plugin. In Fl you can also use any mixer as a send while in S1 you need a bus or fx, which kinda sux, not only that but in FL you can use a sender before some plugins are applied, mby you have some distortion for example but you want to send clean sound to Reverb FX.

I really like the concept behind this video series, however, I feel that this one lacks depth and the title is somewhat misleading as it primarily compares some random nice features of S1 and FL. I have been using Cubase for several years now and the only DAW that I regularly consider switching back to from time to time is FL. (I also really like S1 btw because it feels like a modernized version of Cubase, but it also lacks some of my favorite features from Cubase). While I liked the way in which ISAGE BEATS presented the things he likes about FL, they really lacked substance. With regards to the piano roll alone, there is so much more to talk about. In short, the piano roll is just a joy to work with due to its ease of use and numerous great tools. Some examples of what I love about the piano roll: - Left click: add, Right click delete (wish all DAWs had this) - “Saves” length of last midi note - All the great tools and how nicely they are implemented (brush, paint, cut, etc…). - Chopper, Randomizer, Strum-Tool, Arpeggiator, riff machine - Intelligent Duplicating (with space left at the end etc) - Stretching, Flipping/Mirroring Midi-Notes - The infamous glide notes (i think ableton does midi glides the best by now, but FL is second imho) - Ghost Notes What makes the piano roll in FL special to me is not just its list of features, but also its USABILITY. For example, while the Piano Roll in Cubase and S1 may have many or even more features, using it is just not as enjoyable as it is in FL due to small differences that add up. For instance, Cubase has ghost notes, but they are not practical for me as clicking on one also always selects it. Or, while I can randomize MIDI in Cubase with an MIDI effect or macro, it is not as effortless and fun as within the randomizer in FL. The list goes on... In conclusion, if I were to spend most of my time in the piano roll, I would still be using FL. However, since working with audio files in the playlist is still challenging in FL, I eventually switched to the DAW that (some years ago) had the second best piano roll, great audio editing, and excellent mixing features. To me, using Cubase is not the best of both worlds, but the best compromise for now. If you are really interested in what makes FL Studio (21) great, I can highly recommend some Videos on Benn Jordans Channel.

Their tube pres armed with an assortment of tubes are my all time favorite... upgrade the tube and it competes with any others and often tops higend preamps.. I appreciate your channel homie. Your efforts and manor of delivery. Beats listening to all the arrogant pekerheds who deliver in their typical cocky influencer methods or whatever their true objectives are... most offer nothin more than "hey look at me, I know what you don't" haha.. Good shiit bro...

I'm sorry but you picked the wrong user to represent FL Studio, imho atleast. FL have extremely complex and creative features that most of those 'beatmakers' don't know about. Anddd parametric EQ2 is sooo out of date, nowhere near to other DAWs main stock EQ. No M/S or seperate L/R feature, no dynamic EQing feature etc. FL shines with its stock instrument plugins, like FLEX for example. The updated playlist also gives you an option to lay down your tracks in a more traditional way now. Some complex/advanced routing can also be extremely helpful while doing hybrid mixing.

I *strongly* prefer Studio One over FL Studio, especially because of the general workflow. My main issue is with its stability and bugginess. I don't know how it is for FL Studio, but S1 just crashes way too often for me. And yes, I know it's usually the plugin's fault, but at the end of the day, I don't care who it was. My session crashed, my flow is ruined and that's what counts. I wish they had sandboxing for third party plugins. Also, the internal routing becomes buggy regularly, with pretty much the same effect. If it weren't for those two issues, S1 would remain my favorite DAW. But lately, I find myself using Bitwig more and more, even though I find S1 more capable and better workflow wise. For example, I miss the whole arranger track functionality soooo much! That's maybe my favorite thing about S1. How they solved a ton of workflow issues with consistent concepts. And the arranger track in specific (but also the other ones). The lyrics track is brilliant imho.

The only time i had a cpu problem with S1 was using very cpu hungry plugin in a slow cpu PC ( 1.7 GHz). Once I switched to a normal cpu (2.5 GHz) the same plugin run's ok. Other perfomance problems were solved once I learned how to configure basic parameters like the buffer size. Today My only concern is with memory cause i have only 8 GB.

People use FL because it's cheaper. FL is a pain in the ass compared to Studio One. S1 is light years ahead of FL when it comes to ease of use. I was using FL since 4. To this day with ver. 21 picking plugins and setting up instruments is still a visual mess and just plain SUCKS. FL STILL to this day can't size plugins right. The FL mixer is still the most illogical thing I've come across. Image Line needs to take lessons from Presonus on how things should be set up and they might survive. - S1 is so organized and simple drag and drop and your ready to go instantly with just about everything. No thought required and the damn plugins fantastically organized, are sized properly and easy to see. I'll never use FL again. S1 is way worth the price.

Let's begin FL studio Painting tool while making or arranging your patterns is the most unique, used feature for FL studio Cooking your arrangements as easy as that Patcher is the ultimate. Holy grail Stock plugins default preset is almist the most lovely of all DAW'S Midi-out as a plugin is a killer feature Keeping a tasty one for itself like Soundgoodizer Just through it on, it will sound good! The best customized ASIO Driver even better than the original universal one itself! Saved me a lot, still The fastest ever to open The best DAW to rewire with studio one even better than Abelton live Badzzz:- Where is where , routingzzzz Intimidating even still after a while Its work flow still baaaad like avid Studio one My sweet heart one The ever best friendly looking one The best in work flow Macro feature ARA, melodyne communication is wow Drag, drop everything, presets Chord track Multi instruments in a single track Splitter as a plugin is the killing feature for studio one Key shortcuts, but for easier workflow you need to make more of your own the way you like Badzzz:- Bad in its own company instrument support! Just those instruments only?! Look at Reason, Abelton, Fl studio Please make more of your own Almost all of us has jumped to another do just for a plugin or instrument there! The best of all time is Reason The most ever generous ones to make all their effects, instruments as a plugin for other Daw's That helped the heck me a lot Ofcourse Abelton live M4L comunity is galaxy in itself but MACRO feature in studio one opened a new level even it's still way behind Logic pro sampler, Abelton Simpler is much above both DAW'S sampler Abelton has 2 views built-in, ready for you is a good feature this will help more FL studio but still good addition to studio one No Midi-out in instrument track in studio one is a shame No customized ASIO Driver for studio one Buit in presets for its instruments is not that good , you need to buy a better ones or become a sound designer, make yours No updates for its sampler for years especially the start, end markers of the loop range automation feature , graining, binding a built-in LFO to its knobs

I bothered to watch this video cause I was curious to hear what he has to say bout FL Studio. In Studio One you can do preaty much the same in the piano roll as in FL, in many cases much easier. The stuck plugins in Studio One are way much advanced. The parametric EQ in FL is one million light-years far away to be something like the Pro EQ3 in S1.

7:00 I am sorry but this guy dosen't know how to use FL studio, you can set in settings to Detach or to open multiple channels at same times, 7:37 YOU CAN ALREADY DO That, all you have to do is drag the sample on a track playlist and select audio or instrument track, same with instrument, drag it from browser instead of adding from channel rack or click Right click on a playlist track then Track mode > Instrument track> and select your Instrument.
