Great video Mr. hasty, well said. Could I suggest a topic for a next video? I would like to hear your thoughts around having a engineer degree vs having a tafe qualification (advanced diploma in civil design). How this can make a difference in your career? How far can u get without a degree? Is it worth having a bachelor? Cheers

Great video Brendan. Engineering requires life-long learning, and that's part of what makes it a great profession, as there is always something new to learn. Do you perhaps have a list of subjects or syllabus you think covers the most essential skills required to make a good structural engineer? I'm very passionate about education, and I want to make the most of my career. I'm also a part-time lecturer, so it's something I think about constantly.

Hi Theuns, thanks for watching and support. Engineers essential understanding structural mechanics and how forces flow through structures, typically span to depth rations, simple rules of thumb basically anything that allow you to assess complex structures. Lots of repetition on simple frames untill it becomes second nature. Then communication communication communication , written, spoken and drawings most import know how to explain to untrained audience.
