Study finds psychedelic mushrooms can be used to treat depression

Күн бұрынA new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine has found that psychedelic mushrooms could be used to help treat depression symptoms. Dr. Scott Aaronson, one of the study's authors, and the chief science officer at the Institute for Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics at Sheppard Pratt, joined Weijia Jiang to discuss the results.

The most damaging drugs, fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine all are considered safe for use and prescriptible by doctors. The drugs I know of on Schedule I that are not prescriptible but are safe, are cannabis (why single out one cannabinoid of over a hundred?) mushrooms and LSD.

Reality is that this was studied long time ago and it showed how much its prosperous, in example in east Europe was known LSD for so long and many research was taken even from army in Czechoslovakia (on YT is video about that), but guess who hate think about that peoples are need only few sessions to get cured not lifetime addiction to expensive pills...

Centuries? For crying out loud, plants and herbs like cannabis and mushrooms have been used by humans for thousands and thousands and thousands of years. They are only made illegal for a few reasons…. To control certain groups and to protect religions that don’t want you seeing god outside of the church.

We should always have unbiased peer review for everything, but that's not the real issue. This issue is a lot of the studies have been swept under the rug for the past thirty years, and restrictions set by the DEA has heavily slowed things down. Reality is this study isn't anything remotely new or groundbreaking, It just reinforces previous ones. Main reason they let up on psilocybin is its really impossible for them enforce restrictions. Spores are legal, and small scale grows are near impossible to catch, some kid could literally be growing the stuff under his bed in a monotub. Not to mention many strains just naturally grow in the wild all over the place in the states. there are only a few that have been selectively bred that don't naturally thrive in the wild (such as PE's)

Psilocybin saved my life. I was addicted to heroin for 15 years and after Psilocybin treatment I will be 3 years clean in September. I have zero cravings. This is something that truly needs to be more broadly used in addiction treatment.

As a "treatment resistant" person, 🍄 and dmt are the best short term antidepressant for me (I also had good results with ketamine.) SSRI's/benzos etc. are turning people's brains and body into mush, no pun intended. Microdosing worked for me long term, amazing results. The thing is it's not easily accessible here, so until they legalize these harmless natural medicines people will have to suffer. Redress your government, legalize nature.

Pharmaceutical companies are in full-panic mode. If psychedelics are determined to be very effective treatment those companies are looking at billions of lost revenue. I doubt any tears will be shed- the drug industry has made a fortune selling treatments that, at best protect against extreme symptoms of depression but provide zero long-term resolution.

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before

The rumor is that someone who had a minor stroke that was left with brain fog and difficulty completing sentences was able to completely get rid of that neurological symptom with a very low dose , something like 1/8 of a normal full dose of LSD. The stroke was due to severe covid 19 infection and the low dose permanently got rid of the brain fog the headaches and the problem with stopping mid sentences because the words were not there much like John Fetterman. Someone needs to check that out and see if its repeatable

I’m diagnosed MDD and GAD. I wonder what a “daily dose” would be for me. I have tried a-z anti deps. I have done mushrooms once but too much 4gs at once. I remember messaging my buddy like “dude this isn’t working I are so muc….”!gone in the middle of complaining. This d head starts texting me 🚀. Smh. I had a “coughing fit” of laughter where I would just giggle like a cough that wouldn’t go away. It was wonderful. The second half I was at my Mothers funeral and was inside a building and her plot was out the door in a field. Everyone was forcing me to go out there and I didn’t want to. I took four grams lmao. It’s there though! The treatment is there. It erased my anxiety. I thought about all my goals and where I was in life being at point A. What was keeping me from going to point b? All of that noise in between point A and B was anxiety and it was gone and I noticed it.

this study actually talks the reverse of a daily dose. Its more that if you take it a few times and never again you have altered the brain pathways in a way that can dramatically aid against depressive states.

I've never done a drug in my life other than alcohol and pot and tried mushrooms for the first time this year (I'm 53). I did 3.5 grams and I can say from personal experience it was certainly very interesting and not scary at all but I don't really see how it would do anything to treat depression. I felt really good while it lasted and it was pretty long (several hours) and patterns on a bed spread and painting turned liquid and shifted and moved when I looked at them but those were the only effects I had. I didn't hallucinate. Maybe I need to try them a few more times.

5 Grams, set the intention to deal with a pain you're having, which means, make that the focus in your mind when you're going in. Then go to your bedroom, or some place quiet and dark, put on some music, lay down for the next two to three hours after it kicks in, and you'll understand.

Recent studies have been made where the patients were able to continue anti depressive medicine up to the shroom therapy, but require 30-50% more psilocybin, and patients didn’t suffer from withdrawals from the anti depressants. This is much safer.NEVER abruptly stop taking anti depressants.

Funny my ex said I had the same thing but actually he would just get me really mad because he wasn’t meeting my basic needs. Such feeling safe , protected, and provided for. After the break up my “split personality” is gone. He was my trigger. To be fair he didn’t even have the capacity to take care of his cat. He is autistic.

This has been said again and again. This was "new" research 10 years ago, and probably even before that. The fact is that people won't accept psychedelics as a treatment even though it is proven to work. It is a very delicate subject because we still don't even know what the "trip" is.

In Oregon, pot legal for years. No downside. Small amounts of hard drugs not prosecuted. Rather than say "decriminalize", I keep saying "regulate" instead. Chemical companies and pharmaceutical companies and WEALTHcare corporations are terrified of people self-medicating! BTW, I don't drink or smoke or take any drugs. Just a personal choice. 👍🙂☮️
