Absolutely beautiful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! I love this series . I’m torn between the Charles James gown and the other Balenciaga gown 🥴. Could you do both eventually 🙏😬? But if I must choose one I guess I would go for the other Balenciaga gown. Thank you so much for doing these videos !

Fanstatic! I have been interested in draping techniques, ahd prepared the quite the same half body as yours last year. Howerver every tutrial video is boring or difficult for me. This video is developping a dream story and encourages me. Thank you so much. BTY, could you please advise how to convert the completed half-sized pattern to the life-sized one. You once scan the half one and then enlarge? And trace in degital app. or analogue way?
@studiohennis
@studiohennis 16 күн бұрын
I am happy to hear that the video encourages you! 😊. I would say I would digitise it and double the scale in Clo3D or Illustrator( or something similar that is free). Just need to make sure the pattern that you scan is also true to size ( I normally draw a 3cm by 3cm rectangle on my patterns when taking pictures, for reference. There are manual ways to do it as well if you have the patience…I don’t lol 😂 I have a video planned where I will be scaling a pattern up so hopefully I can explain it better there. 🙃

I love this idea... studying or replicating a historical fashion design. I am especially interested in anything from the 1900s. My first problem is that there are no fine fabric stores in my area, and choosing a suitable fabric from an online store could be a very expensive mistake. For example, silk gazar is about $40/yard. Recently I purchased a Vogue 1239 pattern by Ralph Rucci (copies are still available on eBay). His designs are typically very structured. The envelope recommends "poplin, taffeta, shantung," with a lining of China silk. However, I wonder whether these would really offer the structure needed. What are your thoughts or recommendations?
@studiohennis
@studiohennis 15 күн бұрын
Hi. Looking at the pattern you mentioned I would say the suggested fabrics are suitable. They are all lighter/ thinner fabrics but with crisp structure. (Except the lining, that’s more flowy) Perhaps the stores offering samples/swatches? And also it doesn’t necessarily needs the most expensive material there are always cheaper versions that could be nice. But I agree, I would not spend so much money without physically seeing the fabric, so I usually get a swatch.

Hi there I have a question regarding pattern making. If I create a dress inspired by a design I've seen elsewhere, but I add my own unique touches, am I legally allowed to create a pattern for it and sell it online? Additionally, if I create a pattern for a dress style that is common and widely used, can I sell that pattern without infringing on anyone's rights? Please I hope you answer ❤
