Flaubert's Parrot made me want to read Flaubert, and now I want to read Pale Fire too. I read Yellowface with a group and agree, entertaining but extremely over-hyped. Kuang does experiment though, she keeps changing genres. But I get what you're saying. But Fourth Wing, wth?! Nothing could compel me to read that. 😅

love your review on Fourth Wing and fully agree with Yellowface! I read the second one in one sitting only because of an amazing audiobook :D

Love to hear about Flaubert , Barnes, and Nabokov. Also, read Gluck, but poems she wrote later in life. I'm planning to read more En Carson, she kind of interests me more. And I truly hate Sally R.

Recently found your channel from the trivia you hosted, loving your stuff. It's nice to hear someone call poets out on their bullshit lol. I'm looking forward to what you have to say about Diane Seuss, if she's included in your project.

I love Sally Rooney but your impression made me laugh out loud !! Regardless of a poet's talent, I think that the poetry that one likes or that speaks to one is always very subjective. Louise Glück speaks to me, but maybe not to everyone, and I find that beautiful. I don't think there is a "right" way to read poetry :)

I feel like Kuang does better with contemporary novels than fantasy. I hope she moves away from fantasy if I"m honest. Also shut your mouth Sally Rooney is amazing 😠 (Oh and Dakota read that Louise Gluck collection in March too - TWINS)

I slammed down on that ‘subscribe’ button with the quickness! Yes to everything you said about Rebecca and Sally!!! Rebecca has the capacity for greatness and you can see it in Babel, but she fumbled that second half so hard 🤦🏽‍♀️ What Patricia Lockwood books would you recommend?

agree with u about yellowface it just barely kept my interest plus the main plot device of someone stealing her friend's manuscript is identical to another novel called about the author. Don't mind if they actually borrowed it but it was just kind of annoying to see the same thing repeated. Also don't think barnes is that bad though probably shouldn't have gotten the booker for a sense of an ending⚛😀
