Stylized Flowers Tutorial

In this tutorial I`m talking about simple way how to create beautiful stylized flowers. I called this method "flat flowers" because I didn't sculpt the flowers and leaves and I create base color and alpha textures in Photoshop. Than I make the final flower shape in Maya using simple plane geometry. And the final touch is the material creation in Unreal Engine 4, but you can easily use this method to achieve the same result in Unreal engine 5.

Thank you, i always care about flowers when i think on the game im doing. i searched for the many types from scotland and searched and draw. now i need to do them 3d to unreal engine, im thinking on do it as grease pencil on blender..could it work? thank you for the great tutorial

Great tutorial. when you add foliage, do you disable shadows? As I have a lot of problems if I dont disable "cast shadows"? If I disable "cast shadows" I dont get any shadows below the foliage

My planes have the texture and the Material is setup how you did it. I can clearly see the planes overlapping eachother in unreal how can i fix this please.

I try to transpose that to Blender but I can't figure out how the UV maps were done to be able to use only one material for all the flowers, any one has some cues about the UV here?

I get weird grainy shadows (specially on the Blue Flower where the cards intersect each other) and i cant find a solution online (prob because i really dont know how to google this issue). tried to disable shadows and stuff but this has no effect at all. Hope some1 can help me :(

I was looking through your videos and trying to figure out if the distant trees are models with something like a Kuwahara filter or cards with 2d drawings? they look great but I don't know how I would make them.

My flowers are turning in a circle and the leaves have detached when it moves in the wind😢 do you know how to fix this? Thankyou in advance 😊 I think it has something to do with the nodes I attached to the wind weight but not too sure.

Make the wind strength lower, and its ok when they a bit move through the trunk or out of it. You also can attach leaves bottom part to the bottom part of UV as I showed for trunk. Because the bottom part of the UV will not move, so you can place there the stuff that shouldn't move.

Can anyone help? My flowers are very dark, they seem to go completely black depending on the lighting. Especially with the tall flowers with 3 segments. How can I fix this?

Check your normals. They should be facing up in the Z axis after you’re done arranging your flowers in Blender/modeling software.
