Curious fact: Su-34 maximum takeoff weight is 45 metric tons. The T-90 main battle tank weighs 48 tons... so when you are looking at Su-34, imagine a main battle tank doing that in the air.

Su34 the sexiest attacker craft ever, the 27's concept has massive potential.

I'm amazed over the agility of this heavy Striker. It comes pretty close to the larger and cumbersome F-111, in both range and payload. However this birdy is very compacted, it can actuall hold its own in in the Air. Amazing design...

As an American I’m proud of my country’s jets and other aircraft. But I can definitely appreciate a lot of the Russian designs from the 1950’s all the way to now with this bird. Pretty fucking cool.

Just the best looking warplane ever built....on a par with the Spitfire in terms of aesthetic beauty....it's like looking at aeronautical perfection.

Of course, no demo flights are done at max T/O weight. However, historically, Russian combat jets have always had a thrust-to-weight ratio greater than 1.0 so even fully loaded this plane can fly and maneuver just as well.

Again Mr Igor.. The Su-34 with the AL-31FM1 engines from Salut was only offered by Salut. But the Russian MoD and AF leaders did not see it necessary due to the Su-34 beeing an Long range Striker, and offereing more thrust would only bring higher fuel consumption, hense shorter range. So in effect, the Su-34 still operate the AL-31F Engines with the 12.700kgf of thrust.

It is not possible to hate on a Plane that handles like a fighter jet but has a Washroom and a galley. do not forget the pilots have enough room to lie down!

Yes i know. But in all fairness, Wiki says a lot of things and not all of em are correct. For furter info, there was one of the eight Su-34 Pre-production.. i do not remember its bort Nr, whom flew trials with AL-31FM1 engines. This was years ago and i don't know if it still have it. That particular Su-34 are still based at Lipetsk AB for Training purpose. It could very well be this b/n 48 in this Video from Maks 2011.

@srboboron Problem is that the USA does not have a viable thrust-vectoring engine. The one used on the F-22 (which has been cancelled) is two-dimensional, i.e. up/down. Russian thrust-vectoring nozzles rotate independently of one another (or synchronously, depending on what the pilot is doing) in any direction (360 degrees). As for BVR vs. dogfighting, Russian radars and AA missiles are just as capable of the BVR as their western counterparts.

Nope. The Su-34 does not have TVC. You can check every source out there. I'm 1000% certain of this. The Su-35S does have TVC, but not the Su-34 period.

"maneuver just as well" Sorry to be pedantic but, F=MA so fully loaded it may be still quite impressive but physics can assure you it won't fly the same. There is a reason that combat aircraft jettison external stores before they have to dogfight.
