This film is a farewell of SU45 locomotives, a legend of Polish railways PKP. They have hauled trains on Polish tracks for 47 years and have become an integral part of railways in many regions of Poland. Initially, they served in the Polish State Railways, later in PKP Intercity, Przewozy Regionalne and PKP Cargo. There were produced 265 engines of the 301Db type, 2 prototypes and 3 export ones for Lebanon. The last active machine of national operators was in service until January 2017. Currently, a few locos are in private companies, at the moment 2 are active and able to operate, however they are in blue livery and used for freight.
This series of locomotives in jargon is referred to as "Fiat", due to the fact that they were equipped with a product manufactured at the HCP plant, the 2112SSF engine licensed by Fiat. These machines in production received the name SP45, but at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, during modifications, including the train heating system, they were renamed to SU45.
