"Show some EmOtIoN or ReMoRsE or you get 4 more months!" Seems stupid yet accurate to me.

They under utilized him. 12 months in prison, not a problem for me. But in the world of reality, the sentence would have been 12 months working in the prison infirmary treating the prisoners and make him do it AGAINST HIS WILL! That would have been the sentence I would have imposed if I were a judge. Its a no brainer.

@@paulcolburn3855 In NJ they don't get to choose like that. From a law site: "A judge must use New Jersey's Sentencing Guidelines in order to properly determine how long you can be jailed or imprisoned for."

What House did was reckless and stupid. Letting him out might cause him to do that same thing again.

What I find utterly annoying about this plot hole in House is that for the entire 8th season, they continue to threaten him with going back to prison to serve out the remainder of his time... He served 8 months of a 12 months sentence. Yet, once he is conditionally released, he now gets to spend much longer than the 4 remaining months with the threat of going back to prison over his head. There is no point in taking an early release deal if the resulting probationary term lasts longer than the remaining term of imprisonment, where they will continue to threaten to send you back to serve that remaining 4 months in prison for the better part of a year. Not only that, in the US prison system during the time frame that this took place, it was common practice that any sentence under 12 months would be served in jail, not in prison... and yes, there is a difference. Also, I am not sure why he was so put out to get these guys their 20 Vicodin when he absolutely could have PC'd up and got out, wrote a prescription for Vicodin for twice the amount they requested and had it smuggled into the prison to settle his "debt"... leaving him free to not have to deal with the crazy racists any longer and allowing him to get out without the threat of having to go back if he makes any wrong move. Spoiler alert... At the end of the season, when they threatened to send him back due to "Felony vandalism," they said that they found the tickets with his name on them in the plumbing that caused significant damage to the hospital, ruining another MRI. They continue to say that those tickets have his fingerprints on them... That is utterly laughable given the probability of getting fingerprints off of paper that has been submerged in water. Still, neither the fingerprints nor the fact that his tickets were in the pipes proves he had anything to do with flushing those tickets. If the act of flushing season tickets down the toilet has the power to completely dismantle the hospital's plumbing then they have some significant issues and really cheap plumbing. The worst lawyer on the planet could get those charges dropped and would have kept him from going back to jail. It just seems like the last season really had some big plot holes like they were rushing to wrap it up and didn't entirely think things through.

This is why in my fuck up days of stealing Bluerays (when they were new still) to support my addiction I always, always took the 30-60 days in jail over a year of probation. I'd just violate and be in an endless cycle. But yeah 365 days is jail. 366 days is state prison. Big, big difference. Jails usually have a "facility" where people sentenced ride out separate from the booking and holding "jail." Most jails don't have actual gangs and 99% of the people have a very near, foreseeable release date they want to see. Prison... well, people have resigned themselves to this is life for now or forever. Let alone, obviously worst crimes usually equals a worst person ha.

@@hunteractually3637 Well this was back in like 2009-2010 when they were still fairly new. I could grab 7-8 of them per store and sell them for $10-20 each at pawn shops and Moviestop. They'd give me $15-20 for new movies that were popular and Blu-Ray and sell them for $30. This is when Blu-Rays were $35-40 new. I was addicted to opiates. That's' "why" I did it. Eventually once my buddy at the pawn shop was fired, they told me they couldn't buy 20-30 Blu-Rays EVERYDAY that all looked brand new from me. That it was too suspicious. hahahah My buddy used to get a small cut, so would process them for me. Was a good scheme while it lasted. Only got arrested 4-5 times while doing it multiple times per day, everyday, for 2 years or so. Then I went to panhandling... less of a crime and just as much money $100 per hour or so. Then I realized I was a fuckin loser and got clean.

I think the bigger issue stems from everything that led up to House going to jail in the first place. Like seriously? He gets out of rehab only to get into a shit relationship with the most important girl there he's been butting heads with the entire show -cuz of fucking course it goes there, like always-, flip out, and crash a car into her house as if he totally didn't just ruin his entire life in that instant. xD

He did get out to be a doctor again, kind of. He didn't have the kind of power he had before, and he was considered more of a consultant than doctor if I remember correctly. Though, he screwed that up too and was soon heading back to jail.
