I did my first division and planting of Christmas rose. While taking a break and drinking tea in the sunlight, I received persimmons from my neighbor. One of the nice things about living in the countryside is being able to talk to each other over the hedge.
"Non-tillage cultivation in home gardening"
Written by Fumio Mizuguchi, Published by the Agricultural, Mountain, and Fisheries Culture Association, 1999
I came across this book about 20 years ago. At that time, I had just started a small home garden, and the method of "not tilling" seemed perfect for me. Since then, I have been practicing non-tillage cultivation as the basic method.
Although my home garden ended after about 5 years, the basics remain the same when it comes to gardening. I use fallen leaves and weeds to make leaf mold, and I leave root holes and use fallen leaves as mulch on top.
However, I like the fact that fallen leaves and leftovers do not become waste, but the appearance may not be perfect. It no longer looks like a well-organized vegetable garden.
I even mixed flowers in there, so it has become a funny kitchen garden where I don't know where the vegetables are planted.
Non-tillage cultivation itself has been receiving attention for a long time, and recently "Soyan" has featured it on KZfaq. The video mainly focused on the perspective of environmental issues, stating that it is being practiced in Europe and the United States to prevent global warming and topsoil erosion.
This book also mentions the prevention of topsoil erosion, which is very interesting.
By the way, that round egg-like sweet was a confectionery from Kaga called "Kasho Takagiya".

It was very cute, so I wanted to introduce it.
