These are outstanding ideas. Ive done 463K in an 01 Outback and now have replaced it with a 2004 Forester. All these problems ive seen. Outstanding suggestions. I might add: Change your coolant yearly, and add 1 Bottle of Subaru Brand Coolant treatment $5 in the little blue plastic Bottle about the size of a Cigarette Pack. Only available at the dealer. This is the best thing to protect your head gaskets. I get 125 to 150K on head gaskets. Ive done several. Yes its $$painful$$. 2) Use Lube Guard Red Transmission Additive in your transmission fluid. I bottle each time you flush your trans. which should be yearly. I bought my outback new and never did this. At 219K the trans failed. I put a used trans in off CL $350, did this treatment right away, then yearly. That trans lasted until I sold the car at 463K, the trans still performing great. Also FYI, the trans has a side mounted spin on oil filter that looks just like a small oil filter. Change that with your annual flush. For all you doubters, just do this, which is how I stumbled on this idea: Google any hi-performance National Subaru Trans rebuilder. They will say they only warranty their trans rebuilds if Lube Guard Red is used. Then go to Lube Guards website, and read how this stuff was developed.

LOVE!!! I will definitely be doing the wind noise hack!!! My 14 hour driving days on 80 mph highways have nearly left my ears bleeding or near dead for hours.

Subaru tip #1, make sure the head gaskets have already been replaced before you buy the damn thing

That's where the wind noise is coming from! I think I have sealed every spot along the window EXCEPT that part 25 years of Subaru Foresters!🤣 Thank you! Tomorrow! On another note: A couple of motor rebuilds? I got 200K on my '98 and have 150K on this 2005! No rebuilds and don't burn oil! Seconf gen Forester is a perfect size, they got too big to go through forest trails after 2009!

I got the same size foam but it won’t stay stuck in. I cleaned the surface, stuck it in there and the window peels it up when it rolls up! Is it possible to have foam with better adhesion than another?

It didnt save you money in cats, it simply hid the issue 😂 thats highly illegal btw. When your cat melts and clogs its gonna blow your engine. Thanks for the mirror tip though! Have 3 foresters myself and had no idea that was a plug and play option. Same with the trunk mat, genius, go to the junkyard all the time and never thought of that. Window gussets can be "pinched" back into shap unless the rubber has split. And those fogs are probably annoying as hell to whome ever is in front of you with them bouncing up and down constantly being that loose.
