Subaru Impreza WRC driven on the road!! - CTR

Incredible experience but losing the dash 5 mins in and the wing mirrors not being in the correct position did not help the nerves! Cannot wait to do this again on an evening with less traffic! Totally different to a road Subaru 22b and a complete adrenaline rush like no other. Hope you enjoy!

I remember seeing a clip of McRae warming up the tyres on a test session in this car, the immediacy of the steering and direction change looked insane! As you said, it almost changes direction before you steer. Thumbnail is sharp 👌🏻 Looking forward to seeing more nice photos👍🏻

This test drive reminds me of riding a superbike; lovely gearbox whine, excessive noise, crazy acceleration, total lack of any creature comforts, clueless upchanges, manual off for indicators, just incredible… would like a new video of this car on a sunny mid week drive, maybe the a686 Penrith to Hexham, my fav English road for driving/motorcycling!!!

I drive a borderline rally Subaru every day. Rally suspension for a daily is really nice, the cage gets a little old sometimes but the safety is always worth it.

One thing I've always wondered about is how does the WRC car compare to a 22b in terms of driving feel, acceleration, steering, shifting the gearbox and so on? Would you care to explain a little bit?

Reminds me of my face when i took my impreza rally car on its maiden road run, dog box, jacked open throttle body for anti lag, 3 inch straight through exhaust, paddle clutch, lots of traffic.. absolute nightmare 🤣🫣 it rocked its way around.. still does but i got used to coasting a little on road sections! Anyway great video 👌 Thats my favourite car of all time 👏🏼

Loved watching this... I have done some road drive videos in my 6R4 and I felt exactly the same way! Rally cars on the road are not a relaxing drive!

when do you need to use the clutch on a gearbox like that? watching your leg, i cant really tell what is what

Probably best to use the clutch for on road driving save the dogs in the gearbox

How does the dogbox in this car work? Watched so many onboards and it looks like McRae didn't even have to blip or clutch to downshift

Hi Ryan, I do not need to use the clutch on the way up and down when its warmed up. I did use the clutch on the way down in this video. Looking forward to driving this car hever in the spring

Video title is kind'a amusing, because all rally cars are road legal by design. During the rally, all the transportation stages are beeing driven in ordinary, day to day traffic. Probably, the rally cars are the only performance oriented competition cars, that must be road legal, because rally regulations are demanding that.

Unfortunately losing the dash after the first 100m, then the mirrors in the wrong position and platinum jubilee weekend! Hopefully get it on a track in 2024!
