Toyota owns 20% of Subaru stock. There's your answer right there. That would have to be one of the largest holdings if no the largest. Toyota probably put their cndidate in as CEO and now their CEO is gone and they are changing alignment, then Subaru will porbably need to follow. The 3 day delay was probbaly to organise a board meeting.

Looks like a bunch of government owned nationalized (internationalized?) auto companies to me. Is that true or false? I don't know if there is an industry left that can be considered free enterprise. None of us can compete anymore. You are free to buy what ever government approves,---but you already paid for it before it was produced. Did I ever tell you how cool the USA used to be? Subaru engines suck anyway, so whatever. Toyota should have used Honda K-series on the GR86. If they were able to collab with BMW for the Supra, they could have done the same for Honda. Imagine if the GR86 had a K-Series: stock internals tune up to 300hp n/a, 400whp turbo. Good luck doing that on its current subaru engine on stock internals.

When the chief of Toyota says battery powered cars are not what they should be doing, maybe we should listen. Hybrid is the way, and they know it. Subaru sells cars that are supposed to be able to get away from it all on remote dirt roads, a concept that seems counter to making the car reliant on being able to plug in to the grid and weigh much more than a fuel powered car. If you want a Tesla, get a tesla, if you want a Prius, get that, and if you want a flat four gasoline engine mounted properly with proper all wheel drive, get a subaru. No need for everybody to stop what they are doing and build Teslas.

Thanks Scotty!!! We are on our 6th Subaru! All three of our boys learned to drive in a Subaru. Not wild about their CVT thought. We traded our Tribeca for an Outback, used of course. Less than a year later when the car had gone over 100k miles the transmission went, $10k to replace, you can’t repair!!! What kinda deal is that!!! But we’ve stayed with them, only buying automatic transmission versions in the Forester or Outback lines, they can go just about anywhere in ALL road conditions. I truly hope that doesn’t stop!

Lead acid / AGM batteries are 100% recyclable and that process has been around for decades. There's still room for development of that type for EV duty. Unfortunately, EV manufacturers have promised WAY TOO MUCH and that requires exotic batteries like Lithium Ion and other batteries that are not recyclable. EV cars COULD be easily recycled and still be good transportation. Imagine how Soviet Russia would have built them and do the same. Base it on a Lada Riva or GAZ 24. Built STRONK! Like BEAR! Comrade Boris can fix it, even after getting bent on vodka! The manufacturers must be forced to limit claims on what EVs can deliver. They should be sold as LOCAL COMMUTERS only. Recharge in your driveway and expect to do your errands within a 50 mile radius of your home. That's it. AGM batteries and lightweight unibody chassis should be able to do that.

They couldn’t fix their own tractors or take them to get fixed by their own local mechanics, they had to take it to the brands own workshops. Most of the time is was the downloading of the updates which meant they couldn’t start up the tractors. The whole problem with EVs is that they've promised way more than can be delivered. EVs should be marketed as LOCAL COMMUTING ONLY. Charge it in your driveway and expect to do everything within a 50 mile radius of your home. That's all that should be allowed to be claimed. There should be a moratorium on new EV charging stations. They have come to ask people to do the washing at the end of the evening... What are they going to ask us when more people have migrated to electric cars. The craze for electric vehicles is there but people forget that their insurance will cost more, they forget that they will no longer be able to have their vehicle repaired at their usual garage, they will have to go to dealerships where again the costs will be higher . Not all technicians work on electric vehicles, those who want to must follow elaborate training on the subject. And here, I'm not talking about the costs associated with installing a terminal at your home, batteries that in 5-7-9 years will have to be replaced and will cost a small fortune. personally I made the choice to continue with a gasoline vehicle by ordering an Outback XT. Great video, I think EV should be an option but not the only option. I also think the management changes will hurt the company for years to come. The pandemic hurt all industries (thank a lot China) but replace these CEO's because of low performing number, that is not right.

We owened a Subaru Crosstrex plugin hybrid and the fuel mileage was about 23 mpg, it was really bad, so bad, we traded it in and got a used Impreza and are getting about 32 mpg average now.

I have a 2021 Crosstrek. I was elated to find a manual transmission but the limits on the options for that really made me wonder. None of the safety enhancements and only the smaller engine.

Toyota and Subaru are wise to not go all-in on EVs, hopefully their new CEOs continue that line of thinking.

@@ceciliaabdalla4954 A good point. There's plenty of EV flavored Kool Aid out there. The practices around mining for battery raw materials would "shock" EV owners.

I currently have a Subaru and I keep waiting for them to come out with a hybrid. That seems like a natural transition to me. I’m afraid EV won’t work for me I live way out in the country and I have a high criteria for being able to get somewhere without having to plug-in. Subarus typically are sold to folks that live in climates and conditions that are not attractive for an EV.

Don't feel bad if full Ev is not for you. There are simply no infrastructure for EV at the moment. Hybrid is pretty good for city dwellers. I don't think hybrid makes sense for country side.

Subaru has made some choices that led me away from loyality (cvt). Geez abandon plug in hybirds? Seems like that is the sweet spot. Can go around town and still take a road trip. In my area folks are switching from Foresters to hybird Rav 4's.

On my 3rd Subaru now with the boxer engine and I like it just fine ! If Subaru ever bows to pressure to make all vehicles electric, I will no longer be a Subaru customer. Take a stand Subaru and don't feel like everyone wants electric, because they don't !!! Keep building the proven boxer engine and all will be fine.

Subaru should have paired a manual transmission option with the 2.5 naturally aspirated engine in the new Crosstrek. They used to pair it with the 2.0 (I think). At teh very least they could have kept that option. It is so friggin disappointing to me that so few people want to drive a manual transmission anymore. I mean, it really isn't hard, but it does lend a little fun factor to the car. I don't get it. Driving an automatic is mind numbing. At least in the sport version of all cars there should be a manual transmission option. Heck, even a Corolla no longer can be had with a manual transmission. I would LOVE a Camry V6 with a manual. I might need to go used

In Europe Subaru is sadly no more attractive, even all turbo Engines were cut out. They have no more chance against Kia or Hyundai models. Instead of downsizing and just sell small and weak engines, they should develope a super STI model 400 + hp and go against the Audi Quattro and VW R models, bring emotions back.💪

Have driven Subarus for 21 years, but will most likely never buy one again with all the changes going on. They just don't make a car for me anymore. Subaru have always been most successful with cars out of the ordinary, think sedans with sports car performance, tiny utes, super practical wagons with off road ability, and as mentioned the "small and ugly" 1500. Sadly Subaru's current range is ordinary, uninspired and ugly, and electrification is only going to make them more part of the pack. If I were CEO I would be leaving too.

Subaru has a bunch of class actions they’ve lost or are being litigated, for oil leads in many models, WRX engine spinning lifter bearings, etc. It’s almost impossible to take advantage of the extended warranty on the WRX unless you’ve kept meticulous records of oil changes and maintenance. If you have a WRX, it’s going to start knocking soon, if it hasn’t already. Bad engine design.

I wanted to buy an American-made car, but they tried to give me things I didn't want, like a CVT, Engine Stop/Start Technology, and cylinder deactivation. Then I checked out the Subaru, the head gasket problems are few years ago, the CVTs, and engine stop start technology talked me out of it. Then I found out that Mazda will give me a car without a CVT, without engine stop/start technology, and without cylinder deactivation. So I bought a CX-5 CE Turbo w/ AWD. I still like that looks of some of the Subarus. But a car should be more than just looks.

These car companies will be sorry they went all-in on electrification so quickly. Tech is improving but not ready to be right for an entire lineup. Gas has a long way to go, and alternatives like hybrids, hydrogen, and efuel deserve more oxygen
