... yes there are more subgenres than that, but they are usually more or less spawn from the genres in the video, The 9 main genres of Metal.

To be fair, (to my knowledge) the vast majority of rpgs are fantasy and most symphonic metal will give off the energy of a fantasy film soundtrack, Epica especially I mean hell, Nightwish even has their own fantasy thriller movie

For the people bitching about the guy putting Ghost under Doom Metal section: The video was uploaded 6 years ago. Infestissumam was already out and it is a Doom Metal album, and Opus also has its fair share of doom metal, so the classification here is understandable.

Vektor. They are insane. The best i can do to describe their music is progressive technical Sci-Fi themed thrash metal with elements of black and death metal. And thats not even totally accurate... Also Voivod, one of the most important yet underrated progressive metal bands of all time. Also Sci-Fi themed, check out the album Nothingface (or if you are feeling a bit brave go with the old stuff and listen to Killing Technology)

Nu metal is actually an alternative genre, not metal.

@@cbiscuit4666 It isn't, though. Korn said they weren't a metal band, and their influences were more based in alternative rock. To me, nu metal is some twisted love-child/grandchild of grunge and industrial rock. In fact, nu metal was similar to what the grunge scene was in a lot of ways. There are basically no "metal riffs" in nu metal, and it's the down-tuned guitars which fool listeners. Heaviness does not have to = metal. Calling it "nu metal" was 100% a marketing gimmick.

I think classic deathmetal too. Cannibal corpse are pioneers when it comes to brutal death metal. They brought the genre on the map.

Metal will never die, it will simply evolve to outlast. It will adapt to overcome. I grew up on oldies and some of the songs were from the early roots of metal.
