Hey everybody, and welcome! Today we’re going to sublimate a 25oz Walmart frosted bamboo lid glass tumbler that wasn’t meant for sublimation! These Walmart seasonal items have been hit or miss on finding them. But if you can find them, this is how to sub them!
We’re gonna sub some in a tumbler press and in a convection oven, and we’re going to create a quick template in Photoshop Elements for the design.
If you’re looking for some unique designs, be sure to check out my digital design website. www.industrialfringedesigns.com/
Here are the links to the products I used in this video, as well as products I use for sublimation. Some are affiliate links, meaning I may get a small commission, but you pay no additional costs. It’s a great (and easy) way to help support this channel:
Peel N’ Stick Ruler Tape: amzn.to/36HZxOV
20mm x 33m, 108 feet (larger) heat tape: amzn.to/33CHvvZ
13mm x 33m, 108 feet heat tape: amzn.to/3eh4LBU
10mm x 33m, 108 feet (narrower) heat tape: amzn.to/3edULJC
Desktop tape dispenser: amzn.to/3qfs2tG
24” metal ruler: amzn.to/3G9371v
Folding utility knife: amzn.to/3fjkUr8
Olaf 12” x 18” self-healing cutting mat: amzn.to/3JbZ0n4
Oven thermometer ($5.99): amzn.to/3BkTuv7
Heat Press Nation Signature Series Mug Press w/Tumbler attachment: shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=113707...
And please check out our Facebook group, groups/55947.... If you enjoy sublimation, just answer a couple of quick questions and join. You do need to answer the questions, and you must agree to the group rules, but I promise, they’re not difficult! We’d love to have you!
I hope you enjoy, and if this video helped you, please give it a thumbs up! And also, be sure to subscribe for more upcoming fun and informative videos!

Thanks for sharing and they looked great! Nice to know the results over 2-week period too and to know it didn’t slightly fade over time. On another note, are you still planning to do a video testing red and black sublimation colors? Tracey

Thanks, Tracey! I do anticipate them not holding up as well as a stainless steel tumbler, but they’ve held up surprisingly well so far! And yes, I am going to do a video on reds and blacks. Hopefully it’ll be soon. I have a couple other videos that’ll come next, but I promise I’ll get it made! Thanks for watching!

Hey, Lakisha! I didn’t try any of the clear ones because I read on several Facebook groups that the clear didn’t work. Those comments were from people that had tried them. I think it has something to do the the frosted coating. Thanks so much for watching!

thank you for this video. i just bought a portable heat press off Amazon and it says it heats up to 200 so not sure if this will work. but i guess i'll have to try but i'm going to join your group to see if anyone has tried it using this machine
@industrialfringe953
@industrialfringe953 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely join the group, there are a bunch of great people there that can help! One thing I can think of is to check and make sure you’re on Fahrenheit and not Celsius. Sublimation needs to get to 350 degrees for the ink to turn to gas. I’ve heard others achieve results at slightly lower temperatures, but 350 is the place you want to start. And thanks so much for watching!

Hey, Margaret! Yes, I’m using TexPrint sublimation paper and Cosmos Ink ink. I use a ‘converted’ Epson 7710 to print all of my sublimation. My apologies for not specifying that in the video. Thanks for watching!

Have done these settings with a tumbler press and mine are coming out faded not as bright as yours. Any suggestions
@industrialfringe953
@industrialfringe953 Жыл бұрын
If they’re faded, they’re probably not baking long enough. Use a faded one to test. Try a new image with more time. If that doesn’t work, reuse the same can and try less than you first did. I’d bet you need more time and/or temp! Thanks so much for watching!

Hi your videos are amazing, maybe they can be sprayed with clear cover I'm try it and maybe it can protect the ink.
@industrialfringe953
@industrialfringe953 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Marilyn! The ink has held up surprisingly well. It’s the frost-covered glass that I’m more worried about. But I think any frosted glass is susceptible to scratching. Your idea is fantastic. Because I sell mine, I’m always nervous about adding a coating, but I’m sure there are some out there just for this purpose. Thanks for the idea, and thanks for watching!

I don’t know, that’s a great question. You may be able to find something. I’d just be very careful about the safety aspect of adding a chemical to a drinking glass. I personally would not do it. Thanks for watching!

Hey, Sandra! I haven’t personally tried an iridescent one, but I read in several other Facebook groups that they don’t work. That said, if you happen upon one, it may be worth trying. Worse case, you have your very own 25 ounce iridescent glass bottle that may or may not have a faded design! Thanks for watching!

Can you use etching cream to make your glass frosted and then sublimate on it?
@industrialfringe953
@industrialfringe953 Жыл бұрын
Great question! Probably not, as sublimation requires a special polymer coating. Since etching cream essentially eats off a small amount of glass, the sublimation would probably not hold to the etched glass anymore than regular non-coated glass. But I’ll have to admit, you’ve peaked my curiosity! Thanks for watching!

Hey, Antonio! (I see you just joined the Facebook group! Welcome!) I found these in the seasonal section in several of the Walmarts that had them.
