gopro are kind of expensive. There are a lot of cheaper cameras, use old cell phones.

Hi, yes I design my submarines. This is just a hobby and I donate submarine time to science groups.

What kind of steel did you use for this sub? Or is this fiberglass? 1000ft is pretty epic for a Civilian Submarine. Even the professional Euronaut submarine can't dive that deep and she's built by career Naval architects.

The hull is 1 inch thick 516-70 steel

Question for you Hank! Do you have separate tanks for high pressure to force the water out of the ballasts? After you vent I’m confused on how you’re sub re-surfaces. Thanks in advance.

I have a large high pressure air tank to force water out of the ballast tanks, that causes the sub to surface.

Hello I noticed on one of your test videos your cabin pressure was a little high you should be careful on pressures on your body in the sub could be like diving 300 feet by having too much pressure and could possibly cause a aneurysm and die

There is never more than a 1 psi increase.

What fuel does this sub run on? And how do submarines create air?

The sub is electric. I take the CO2 out of the air and add O2. The oar is breathed over and over

I wonder... could you make a kit build submarine and sell it? I wanna explore the ocean but I don't have 80K to spend to get to 5000ft... and you seem to be on the cutting edge of this technology (At least in the recreational sense.) 5000ft is kinda bare minimum of what I need to explore where I wanna explore, possibly why recreational submarines aren't viable? Else I guess I would need to make my own... but this seems to be a thing, more and more.

The sub is rated for 3,000 feet operating depth. I do this for fun only.

@@HankPronk Yeah guess I'll need to build my own... appreciate the help with the videos. I really wanna get down to 8000ft if I can... but 5000ft is just enough to explore the top part of what I wanna explore.

I know from King of the Hill that his name is pronounced [heŋk] but surely I’m not the only one who finds himself pronouncing it [hɑŋk prɑŋk]. Like a double blast from an air horn.

hank pronk is definitely the hank hill of western canada, though from what I've seen in the comments, his boy ain't a bobbeh.
