On October 14, 2023, a farewell tour took place in Hamburg (Germany) for the class 470 heritage EMU of the suburban rail system of Hamburg. This unit has been in service for 8 years as a heritage train. Now it must be withdrawn temporarily, as a major inspection is due. On this day the weather changed frequently, with a lot of rain and wind - typical weather for Hamburg. Before the heritage unit arrived at Berliner Tor, you could also watch a class 472 train there - the track cleaning train of the suburban rail system of Hamburg.
During day time the EMU travelled along many lines of Hamburg's suburban network. Passengers with normal tickets could board on this trip everywhere. In the evening a second tour started for which special tickets had to be bought in advance. The clips filmed at Ohlsdorf are from this second trip.
Class 470 EMUs (electric multiple units) were put into service starting in 1959. They consist of 2 motorized end cars while the middle car is a non-driven trailer. Thus, the middle car belongs to class 870. Nominal power output is 1280 kW, maximum speed is 100 km/h.
