As part of the Subway Action Plan, we are expanding our Help Hub Program, strategically locating Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and paramedics who can quickly assist sick customers during rush hours. #MTA #SubwayActionPlan

This seems like a good idea. The number of people who get sick on trains is staggering.

The last time I was on a train with a "sick customer," it took EMS nearly an hour to get to the train, which was at the Cortelyou Road station. Something is definitely wrong here...

The use of help points is very low, people need to learn to use them more when they need to request information or help for an emergency.
@plucas93245 жыл бұрын
Most of them are out of order--or so it would seem. I've seen people try to use them twice--nothing happened. Other people have told me the same thing. Just call 911.

P Lucas Actually, they are routinely tested, and they hook up directly with central rail control which also is connected with transit police. If someone is on the tracks, god help you if you think calling 911 will be faster, because the call has to be routed to the police transit division which in turn has to contact rail control to shut off power to the tracks. Much faster to use the help points in those cases. In cases where you need police/ems then yeah, calling 911 will do you just fine.

@@ExtremeHeat11 The vest-wearing folks in this video are medical responders. If there's someone on the tracks, the fastest fix is for bystanders to try to haul him/her up onto the platform while someone sprints for the booth, if present. As I wrote, twice I have seen people try to use them--no response whatsoever--and other people have told me they have had the same experience.

based on the maps at 1:05, there are very few "hubs" in the outer boro's? Southern Brooklyn, nearly all of Queens and the Bronx have no Help Hub. Seems like those areas need it most. I would like an explanation on the decision as to where the hubs would be located. I notice the map may be wrong, from the video, the gentleman is at 125 on the IND line. But the maps points to 125 St on the IRT.

I think what they meant in the action plan is there gonna expand that range like adding more help Hubs In places like say coney island or East 180 to name a few to fill in those gaps and offer even better service

It appears to me that there are two reasons for having many EMT location points in lower and midtown Manhattan and few in the outer boroughs. The first is that a delayed train in Manhattan will usually affect other routes. for example, an M train having to stop on the local track at 47-50 sts. to wait for medical aid to arrive will delay other M trains as well as trains on the very busy F line. An M train delayed at Lorimer St. in Brooklyn during peak hours will only delay service on the M line. The second is that in the outer boroughs, ambulances can respond quicker because they don't have to fight their way through gridlocked Manhattan traffic.

The music is unnecessary and annoying. News flash--not everything needs a soundtrack.
