I got the white SubZero Rogue VI 30" baritone guitar which is tuned to e-standard but an octave lower so it's kinda like a 6-string bass except it feels like a guitar.

Thank you! I'm doing a followup video now that I've upgraded the pickups and I'll go a bit more into why I'm keeping the guitar as opposed to keeping the HB baritone guitar that is the same scale length and tuning. Thanks for watching!

Silly question, but have you looked inside the electronics cavity? I wonder if these pickups have four conductor wiring and can be coil split. I much prefer this design to the harley benton, but I love the extreme twang of a single coil baritone

I'm looking at this or the Harley Benton Guitarbass. I own a Harley Benton JA-60 and love it. However, for the 30" scale guitars, I like that the SubZero has Humucker routing otherwise I'd just get the Harley Benton. Which one do you think is a better quality guitar?

Enjoyed your videos Ásgeir Þrastarson, and just seek your advice. Im caught between going for this Rogue VI or the SubZero Paradigm Baritone you reviewed previously. Do you have a preference between them in terms of tone, build quality and playability? Having watched both your videos I think the SubZero Paradigm Baritone might be best for me even if its not as good looking as the all white Rogue. What advice or feedback do you have comparing the two? Thanks for your videos. Im subbed.

I can't say a whole lot cuz I havent played either but the rogue vi has a 30" scale and the paradigm has a 27" scale, which is a big difference so that would be your deciding factor. The 27" scale is standard baritone range for tunings like B standard or whatever, whereas a 30" scale is more of a bass vi, tuned an octave below standard or thereabouts. Depends what register you're aiming for.

@@alexwales8914 thanks for the advice. I think I'm more looking at the 27" as I'm mainly wanting a 7string style tuning for nu metal on a 6 string rather than the djenty stuff for now. Will buy one and experiment. All the best.

This is a weird question but how hard do you have to press down for such thick strings. I've been struggling with some wrist and arm pain in my fretting hand and have always wanted a baritone. I'm just worried it will be really hard on my hands.
@DaveDexterMusic
@DaveDexterMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Do you have access to a bass? It won't be the same obviously, but it should help tell you if your pain responds badly to thicker strings and a more physically demanding instrument.

Any chance you can review it later on as a bass? I see the Harley benton one you tried previously usually played as a bass/guitar hybrid, but this one is almost always used as a metal guitar with tons of distortion, and it's frustrating since I kinda wanna hear it played as a bass with maybe only mild distortion/drive. I'm torn between this and the Harley benton one, I'm gonna use it in a melodic death metal band Great videos!

Got this guitar and it's pretty good! Except the the nut job was kinda crummy and a little bit of the binding in the headstock. Check out Keyan's video on putting BKP Impulse pickups in it. There is an improvement, but honestly, for high gain, the stock pickups actually hold up pretty well. If you switch to SD's, please. ake sure you make a video demoing the before/after differences please!

@@thomasreuter1614 i have the M6 in a Kiesel and its one of the pickups I most dislike in my arsenal. However, it's not tuned that low and has way thinner strings because of the shorter scale length etc.. So maybe its not the right pickup for that guitar... Maybe I'll swap it in to try, when I get around to it. On my Kiesel, it has a really pokey, brittle, skinny, high frequency spike that isn't too pleasing. But i suppose it mkght work in the Rogue.

why wouldn't you consider a 30" scale to be a baritone?
@7171jay
@7171jay 8 ай бұрын
While there are some 30" or near 30" instruments that are baritones (the Gretsch and the Danelectro are 29.75). A baritone is different than a Bass VI which is what the SubZero Rogue actually is. The original bass VI instruments are the Danelectro short scale six string bass (1956) and the Fender bass VI (1961). Current incarnations like the SubZero Rogue, the Harley Benton VS, and the Squire Bass VI are all modeled after these basses as they are tuned E to E but an octave lower than a regular guitar (several steps lower than a baritone which is tuned to A, B, or C below E2). The Rogue is set up for string gauge of 24-84 (with all six strings being wound strings) which is the main thing besides the 30" scale and tuning to E1 that makes these bass VI instruments rather than baritones. A baritone is usually 27" but even the longer scale ones use strings lighter than a bass VI (around 14 to 62) and the two high strings are plain (not wound) on a baritone. These may seem like somewhat subtle differences but make a baritone a rather different instrument than a Bass VI just as a baritone is obviously a different instrument than a standard guitar.
