Roman genuinely likes Piece because Logan likes it and he's all about being the strongest and most powerful person on the planet with little regard for how it plays out for people are large. Roman is family first. As long as his family, particularly his dad is happy then he doesn't really care. Roman is also super focused on getting over on Kendall because like I said, he doesn't get why Kendall gets to betray their dad and still come off like the number 1 son. On the outside looking in, Kendall got off easily with Logan and from Roman's perspective he's done everything right but he still has to play second fiddle to Kendall. Regarding Shiv and Tom, I think Shiv genuinely doesn't think Tom loves her for her so she acts accordingly. She thinks their relationship is transactional.

I can only feel sorry for Tom until the moment I remember he's doing all this aspirationally. He's not stuck in some situation, he's where he put a lot of work and effort into climbing himself to. He could walk away from everything right this this second and go work as a clerk somewhere and be set for several normie lifetimes. He's a power addict.

I think something that exemplifies that is how he's been "standing up for himself" more now that he feels like he's getting robbed of his chance - also at their dinner at Roman's he told Shiv to shut up but said absolutely nothing to Roman, he only ever stands up to her and i think that says something (not counting Greg bc Greg can't do anything for him, so Tom standing up to him doesn't matter imo). I also personally don't see how Shiv *tricked* him given that there was no clause about cheating in the prenup and she straight up said if they end up seeing random people here and there they can work it out - as in it's not a deal breaker... i feel like that's a good indication that she was picturing them engaging in those behaviors but maybe that's just me idk

I can't really tell from your discussion if you understood or not, but just in case you didn't I'll leave this here: Greg is the one who talked, along with probably other members of the inner circle. The guy who died was just a scapegoat that they laid the blame on in order to divert attention away from themselves. Since he's dead he can't defend himself and technically nobody gets hurt.

@@kvm6 It was a question asked by Logan to Roman, to show how disconnected with reality people around him are. The guy wants to "order" a multi billion dollar company via phone, and does not know the basic goods prices. Why should he? His whole life it was just there for him. Personal shoppers, personal chefs etc., and the milk was always in the fridge, so who cares how much does it cost. He was born rich. Logan wasn't, and he understands that a successful man, even though has multiple people for various tasks should at least be somewhat grounded in reality. But in the end, he rised the kids that way, so... Basic goods are also elements of the "inflation basket", a group of goods an "average" person buys, and (simplyfying) changes of prices of these goods, their proportional share of that basket mean a consumer inflation. There is also a line about how many people live in Indonesia in the Thanksgiving episode in season 1 I believe, and he also does not care, which is also a mistake. It is like the 4th most populous country in the world, fast growing, still poor, but these global companies know that they have to be present on such markets, because they are relatively easy to conquer, easier than the mature ones, and once you are there, you stay there and in 10, 20 years it will be a far wealkthier country, and you will have a market there. That is basic stuff, and yeah, such people do have serious reasearch and market data, but basic info needs to be known at hand, so you know it is like more than twice as populous as Mexico. And Waystar is present in Asia as we know. Anyway I also come from a country where imperial units are not used, and had to check what the volume of a gallon is - 3,785 liters :), and the price, in my country, after conversion is like 3 USD I believe. (in the USA it is 4,32USD, at least Google says so)

It was very strange for me to talk to all of my female friends about this show and they had nothing but good things to say about Roman. And I think he’s the only one of the Roy kids on Logan’s level of inhumanity. Also, I don’t feel like he’s written as witty or smooth talking. He’s constantly fumbling his words, he thinks of the same insults that a 13 year old would, and he consistently undermines good business ideas. He’s not a very enjoyable character overall, but Kieran Culkin portrays him masterfully.

my presumption is we're just lowkey trauma bonding with these terrible fictional people not that Roman's this cool sexy funny guy. Like I'm a lesbian and he's my favourite of the three without a doubt. It's just wild to me the way Kendall can do awful things but it's ok because he feels a bit bad after (and I love him but Kendall blinders are r e a l) but Roman's the monster for having trauma manifest in ways that's more difficult to watch, these awful half truth barbs, and like visceral discomfort idk. It's just so often pitted as one brother against the other by the audience and it feels like, no that's the whole thing we're not supposed to be doing - that's the whole gig.

@@natasha7760 Ngl your last sentence is why i can't genuinely dislike the siblings even if i tried. Roman is my least favorite (or Connor is, depending) but he's still incredibly interesting and it's very clear his behavior is barely his own if that makes sense - and i definitely don't take pleasure in seeing him suffer like some seem to (just in this episode seeing him so terrified when his call was "exposed" was tough). But i feel about Shiv the way you feel about him lmao even just talking about the first couple of seasons i feel like she garners *very* odd takes. At the end of the day the enemy is Logan lmao there's no ifs or buts about it, he's legitimately terrible like at least i can find the kids some redeeming qualities and whatnot
@sparkleclover
@sparkleclover Жыл бұрын
@@natasha7760 I agree with most of what you're saying here but I think saying Kendall "feels a bit bad" is massively understating it. I don't believe in pitting the siblings against each other in that way anyways, bc all of them are dealing with trauma and how they deal with it manifests very differently. But it makes sense people will find some manifestations more relatable than others depending on their own personal history and sense of morality, etc.
@natasha7760
@natasha7760 Жыл бұрын
@@sparkleclover Totally also 'by feels a bit bad' I don't mean the weight of grief of the waiter that overarches everything. I mean bad behaviour like in the Prague episode where he tries to spread rumours about the girls being sl*ts and junkies because they didn't accept his money offer, or his reaction to dog cage etc, and later stuff I can't say without being spoiler-y. 'Personal sense of morality' feels like a read but I'll be getting reaaaal quiet during my Roman defence on those political episodes for s u r e aha, but I think the personal history informing who you gravitate to is so so true. I will say since people often forget about it, while Shiv is obviously the more abusive partner in the relationship, Tom also cheated on Shiv at his bachelor party. Tom was excited the whole episode about getting to have weird sex with strangers at the underground club, but there's a moment where Greg points out his hypocrisy and says that if he's allowed to fuck around, that means Shiv can too, and Tom was instantly like "no, of course not, the woman doesn't get to cheat on the man, what a silly notion lmao" like, it wouldn't even cross his mind to feel guilty about cheating, only hurt that Shiv cheated on him.
