Kendall washing the glass is one of my favourite subtle moments in the series, I guarantee he's never washed a dish in his life. I felt like it was his way of attempting to humble himself in some way in their presence. Plus, knowing he'd already caused so much damage he couldn't stand the thought of them having to clean his glass for him.

Someone pointed out how Caroline doesn’t eat and I think the kids got starved out when they would go visit with their mom. Also Caroline is so shitty for making Logan choose between a house and Christmas with his kids. These kids didn’t stand a chance.

This episode is when you truly understand why the kids are the way they are. Their parents are dreadful and here we see how both parents use their kids for their own games. Logan seems to dislike Kendall possibly getting a tiny bit of confidence back by daring to question his relationship with rhea, so he then makes him go to that house, emotionally messing him up again. He gaslights Roman on his violence. He’s taken Shiv’s independence from him / the company she’d built by dangling the prize to get her to quit and now has her running after him like his sons. It’s dreadful how toxic it all is, but it’s brilliantly written and acted.

Logan was definitely making Kendall pay for questioning Rhea by making him go to the family's house. I didn't notice that the first time watching and I couldn't figure out why Logan was torturing him. But you're totally right: Kendall was getting too confident again and Logan needed to knock him down a peg while punishing him in the cruellest way possible. He's truly a monster.

My take on why Rhea was so keen on making the deal with Waystar Royco from the beginning is that she just wanted to make a shitton of money. Over 20 billion... Well, Im sure that her cut would be rather substantial in the end of the deal.

To be hones I was sure that she appeared in season 3, not 2 :D I am not a fan of her. There are so many more interesting female characters, like Marcia, who will become criminally underused in the following episodes.

@@alexarias5717 She is fine and goofy, but nowhere close with endless plot possibilities that Marcia gave with her past, her kids, her scheming etc. Even Rhea was way more interesting. And as the underused female characters go, I also regret that we won't see much of Tabitha (Roman girfriend). She was a great partner for him, and while Roman is messed up, she could have helped him.

Logan obviously loves to mentally torture his children and watch them crumble. But I also wonder if he cut out Shiv to see how she'd react, knowing exactly how she would react so he can take back his word (which doesn't mean anything tbh). From the start of her "CEO" promise, she kept showing EVERYONE that she has no clue about what she's doing. Rhea took full advantage of that And Kendall...good lord I want nothing more than to just hug that man

It's interesting because Logan comes from a business world that's not 100% about numbers. It's entire cynical and cutthroat, but it's also more about selling yourself as a person than just the number in your bank account. There are a lot of abstract forms of power, like their influence over national news and entertainment, political connections, and just the pure authority that Logan commands, like when he bargained to buy Pierce by selling "will you trust me" as the tagline, instead of just floating the big number. The key asset in the company is Logan's public persona, and the personality, image, and social connections and dynamics he has. In that way, selling the kids for Christmas makes perfect sense, because your social magnetism and character/connections has always been a key abstract form of value to sell and pawn.

I'm finally watching this show and it it is as good as everybody is saying and then some. I think Tom is perhaps my favorite character cause I still don't know if he's a nice guy playing the game or the nastiest POS ever. The writing is insane!

Maybe I'm wrong, and I enjoy your character analysis a lot, but you're way too soft on Greg, like he is that sweet naive pup. He is a weasel and a "yes-man", he just doesn't have the skill to "play". Sorry if I'm wrong

I'm only up to your 6th episode of this series so I don't know if this has been brought up but rapper Tech N9ne has a track (from nearly 12 years ago) produced by Michael "Seven" Summers called "Who Do I Catch." kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eKmqZLqSvtmUeKM.html Both Summers and Nicholas Britell (the composer of Succession theme) likely had inspiration from Beethoven's Pathétique sonata but seeing as how both are eerily similar, I tend to think that Britell knew about T9's track (as he is a lover of hip hop). Not saying that he stole it, just saying that he may have heard it in his musical travels 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don't think Rhea came in there with her sights set on CEO. But she was clearly *immediately* seduced by - not Logan himself necessarily, but the sheer power of his operation. Some people are attracted to power like moth to a flame and she is obviously one of them. The Pierces are a media company. Waystar is an empire. And so gradually, possibly without even realizing it at first, Rhea stopped strictly advancing the interests of the Pierces, and instead began leaning more toward trying to make the deal happen, driven by the desire to be part of something bigger - and to be liked by Logan. She was irresistibly pulled into his orbit - and again, probably without realizing it at first.

The Roy parents treat their kids as weapon against each other, doesn't matter how f up it made the kids as long as they one up each other. In that aspect i do feel sorry for them.

I think you're wrong that Kendall should not have to visit the parents. Kendall didn't get any punishment even though he was at least partially responsible for his death, the least he can do is to go with Logan to visit the parents.

Well Logan isn't taking him as punishment but to put him in place. Just minutes before Ken was talking back to him, and in previous episode Ken stood up quite angrily for Roman.

@@kvm6 oh Logan was definately punishing Kendall, he just doesn't care about the dead boy. The decision to bring him along came right after Kendall suggested Logan could appear foolish. Logan NEVER takes kindly to criticism and ALWAYS lashes out in an overtly or covertly malignant way. This time he tortures him with his own guilt to keep him small and in defensive and submissive position. It is always about power projection and putting others down with a malignant narcissist.

@@magnuskarlsson8655honestly I think making Kendall see the family whether for good or bad intentions, is still wrong. One, because it doesn't give Kendall any closure. It's a punishment that's not a punishment, since it doesn't do anything but drive Kendall further into guilt and mania. It's a completely manipulative move. What makes it worse is that he doesn't even let Kendall speak to them, he just forces him to see them.

Again, he avoided all responsibility, this was the least he could do. Whether it gave him closure or not is not the point, since it's not about him, it's about the dead boy and his parents.

Reah was right Shiv over play her hand all the time, she never had experience for running a business and her business idea in S2E1 was terrible Waystar's core business are news not only make the most money but also has big political influence and shiv want to get rid of it and expand park in china russia and middle east all three of these places are easy subject to US sanctions and all your investment in park will go down the drain

Shiv's suggestion was selling, and if not that then cutting off ATN and expanding Parks and Cruises. In both cases she could be free to work with Gil. Logan recognised that and offered Shiv the top job to move her away from Gil.

If I was Roman and Shiv, I'd tell Logan mom'll take no less than $40 million, we talked her down, wink. Then we split the extra $20 million 50/50 for negotiation costs.
