I've never seen those behind the scenes interviews and Brian Cox's take on Logan Roy is fascinating. It's almost the opposite of Logan comes across to me, especially where his children are concerned.

I know people particularly shit on them because Kendall is set up as more sympathetic at times, but I thought this episode was where it started to show that Roman or Shiv actually have the capability to run the company well if they were a team. Shiv is a bad people person but showed off her ability to be a backroom dealer, Roman showed that people do see him as someone capable of making decisions and that he was capable of listening to people that know what they are doing, unfortunately Logan didn't give credit where it was due so we were back to square one. In this ep in particular Shiv pretty much saved the company here. What viewers start to really value parallels Ken, it isn't the company, competence, money, or the right moral decision after a certain point, it's Logan's respect. If they don't get it nothing else matters.

The excitement level for this episode when it aired was like the Super Bowl. Only Succession can make something as seemingly mundane as corporate America seem like the most interesting thing in the world. Excited Kendall is always the worst, same with smug Shiv lmao. When they're in a good mood it's so awkward. It's crazy how both sides of this vote are beholden to old sick men who need to retire. The video cutting off when they say Waystar cares about women was hilarious.

do you think Brian Cox is justifying it or just explaining it? It does seem like he justifies it but idk. He also talks on the siblings, and implies they can be free if they become better people. But how can they break free from Logan if they've only known about life through Logan, shit both their parents. Who are cold and manipulative. And add money, well. It would take teams of therapists to treat any of these family members. This is the curse of wealth and ego on families. It's like a modern Shakespearean comedy AND tragedy at once 🫠
@desmondcoppin591
@desmondcoppin591 4 ай бұрын
I think he is explaining it in terms of how Logan thinks about, which is the justifying it in Logan’s mind. Nothing wrong with that. And they become free by being better people by embracing their emotions and not killing them like Logan wants them to do. That’s what he means.

Uncle/Grandpa Ewan is the most hypocritical of them all, lives of the dividends from the company he is not only part of as a board member, but also critical from his "high moral ground". Using Greg as a pawn, just like anybody else, but pretending he isn't, hiding behind quotes of philosophers he has all the time in world to read on his, again, "high moral ground". Btw, they also use cryptic language and try to say nothing and be vague as possible, because it is all business deals for them. Kendall is just being extra weird with his "yo's" shtick and references to some other media.

This episode it was crazy the grandstanding he did to Greg about not letting himself get used when Ewan’s lawyer friend literally said in front of Greg that they were just going to use Greg to look into the company and dig up dirt.
@the_crypter
@the_crypter 9 ай бұрын
He pretty clearly said in the last season Dundee episode to greg that either stop associating with the Logan family or else he will not get any money from Ewan, Greg doesn't do that and is surprised when Ewan does exactly what he has always said he will do ? Hell he even gave him a chance by hooking up with his lawyer but instead greg again went with Logan's lawyer. Ewan isn't wrong to have a moral ground anyway. SPOILERS Ewan even accepts this fault in him during the funeral episode when he accepts that there is a meagerness in logan and him too, but the difference is he has tried to do the right thing whereas at some point in time Logan just stopped trying and accepted being the asshole which makes all the difference.

His mega rich granddad was completely absent from his life until Greg joined up with Logan. The only reason Ewan does anything for Greg is only so Logan can’t have him. Ewan is definitely evil.
@grasshopperye3593
@grasshopperye3593 9 ай бұрын
This is the worst opinion that keeps cropping up. Ewan is not perfect but he's a damn sight better than the rest of the Roys. I don't understand what's so wrong about deciding to leave your money to a charity rather than your grandson, particularly after you gave him a clear warning. He was angry this episode bc Greg didn't have the decency to call him or the lawyer up before dispensing with his service--and considering that lawyer is a good friend of his, that would feel like a slight. Greg played this horribly, and he rightfully lost. Ewan takes issue with what Logan does for good reason. Is he a hypocrite bc he's still associated with the company? Possibly. But I don't see what would be better if he left. He's there ostensibly to see when his vote can pivot the company to a direction he likes. If that makes him a hypocrite, it's still the least of the evils that this show regularly features.
@8ball279

@@grasshopperye3593 Him voting in favor of Logan during the board room coup instead of abstaining throws everything you just said in the trash. He not only co-opted the Roy family’s actions while running the company he played a active role in halting any change that could be made in-house. If Ewan truly thinks his brother is the worst human to exist, he put in a pathetic effort to do anything about it, but then expects Greg to live a lifestyle Ewan got gifted from his brothers evil work. A hypocrite and a coward.

@@kvm6 "The family who lost us a presidency." "With the president out, we need a nominee." - Michelle-Anne, current presidential aide, attending the Republican summit. The Republicans were literally saying they had to pick a new one in a hurry (only six months left before the election) because their previously assumed nominee (the Raisin) is not running. Most importantly, their initial preferred replacement is the current Vice-President, so obviously the President has to be Republican. Also, why would a Democrat President ever give the Roys (especially Logan) and ATN "that kind of access"? Why would Ravenhead be against 'attacking' a Democrat President, citing his audience, when Shiv asked him to? Makes absolutely no sense.
