Roman's phone background is Roman giving Siobhan the middle finger.Also, the way Shiv abused Tom in this episode after saying she wanted a baby to prove a point to her mother shows she's exactly a mix of both her parents.Kicking Tom to see if he'll come back.

People keep saying Shiv doesn't love Tom the way he loves her. Does he? Love her? He is a social climber who is using her to get ahead. He always puts himself first (his offer to go to jail is only self-serving for his long hoped-for reward from the Logans).
@Littlebirdinatree2 жыл бұрын
And he has two sides to him. The tom we see when alone with Greg is very different to the sensitive supportive and loving hubby he shows when with shiv. I agree with your point.

Tom isn't as bad as shiv, but his intentions are far from pure. He is definitely with shiv for the power and status, including physical attraction. Of course it helps that shiv is hot af. There's no love in their marriage, and they are both aware of it.
@ceciliaSF-TX2 жыл бұрын
Tom wants love, but he married someone who can’t really love him. He wanted the social elevation, which is why he was able to tease Greg at every level: he went through it himself. But, now, he wants / needs real love. Money can’t buy that stuff.

two things i left out of this video that i probably should have included are that Roman and Shiv are both worried about their mother getting married without a pre-nup. Her new husband has made some bad financial decisions and has over four kids. And it's also worth noting that he asked Logan for his UK government contacts. So that may tie into the drowned kid subplot that the podcast is currently doing a deep-dive on
@adoniscreed40312 жыл бұрын
That plotline kind of flew under my radar because every time they bring it up the relationship between the siblings and their mom is at the forefront of the dialogue and I kind of forget what they were even talking about to begin with. Specially in Shiv's case, that conversation took a crazy turn.

I see Shiv as a Michael Correlone type. At the start they're out of the family business doing public good, in the army for Michael, in the Democrats for Shiv. Both of them get sucked into their father's wake and believe they can steer the ship towards the good, but are forced into compromise after compromise and eventually have so betrayed their better nature that what they set out to do has become insignificant next to the terrible acts they've undertaken to get there. A few things that really bug me about how the show drowns Kendal in the boys death...yes, of course Kendal was driving when the kid drowned. But importantly, it was the kid who grabbed the steering wheel which caused the car to enter water. Ken must have forgot that part in his shock, remorse and grief. Also. when Logan's goon, at the bequest of Logan, attempts to threaten him w "I see you" - Ken should have realized the power he held over all of them, including Marcia's son. They all covered it up. Ken did try to rescue the kid. It was winter and icy water and due to downer drugs, there was not enough adrenalin in his system to overcome those factors, unless he had had lifeguard or Navy Seal training.

Appeal to liberal beliefs (she’s actually a conservative republican) & if it failed she would be to blame (the fall person). If you take a look at S1E1, tells the whole story. There’s certain episodes of the 1st season that set presidencies of this season. The episode where Logan returned home & took a swipe at Kendall’s son. Kendall came to the defense of his child.
