The actor who won an Emmy for his portrayal of the scion of a media empire family in "Succession" says his own upbringing contained none of the resentments that play out in the HBO series (now completing its fourth and final season). Jeremy Strong talks with "Sunday Morning" contributor Ben Mankiewicz about finding himself on the stage, and of - finally - letting go of Kendall Roy.

Breaks my heart how mocked and bullied he so often is by the press, for daring to be an ambitious working class person. I thought people wanted eccentric celebrities? Apparently not. He’s a hero to me, I appreciate his obvious passion for what he does

How is this the fault of the press? The press wouldn’t have a story were it not for his coworkers griping about it in interviews. I’m not a huge fan of the press but people need to stop blaming them for everything! BTW, I am a huge fan of Jeremy and I felt his pain when he said the stories hurt him.

Strong is about the work and in the day and age of celebrity, Instagram and playing to the audience that kind of laser focus feels odd and contrived to so many. It's like the person that buys something SHOWY to wear in an order to illicit compliments vs the person that just wants to look nice. They just don't get it and they likely never will. Understatement is dead.

They just invented a term for a persistent practice in Hollywood, a perennially incestuous industry-Douglas Fairbanks, Jr, Candace Bergen, Jamie Leigh Curtis, Marlo Thomas, Mia Farrow, Natasha Richardson, Laura Dern, Rashida Jones, Maya Rudolph, Tracee Ellis Ross, Melanie Griffith, Sam Robards, Kate Burton, Isabella Rossellini,Tatum O’Neal, Angelica Huston, Kiefer Sutherland, Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Liv Tyler, Drew Barrymore, etc. No one listed is below 40 years old. Don’t let social media paint a false narrative. Hollywood has always been welcoming to the offspring of famous actors. Every generation of actors has had to compete with them.

After seeing Jeremy and reading interviews he was more than ready to be done with Kendall.....I am starting to think that Jessie Armstrong creator let that weight in his decision, seemed like Brian Cox and Jeremy were done in their heart of hearts and the creator thought as successful and beloved as our show is--if the two powerhouses were tapped out emotionally it wouldnt be smart decision to do another year..........Going forward HBO, Showtime, Paramount, all the heavy hitters should have these shows sign on for 5 years to get their commitment......just when the audience is all in, they bail...........can see all sides....
