This definitely works because of atmospheric pressure. Therefore atmospheric pressure being about 14 British pound per square inch. Equals about 30 ft of water . Less friction say ,2 / 3 feet will be lost. Hence suction can work good to suck about 25 feet at sea level. At higher levels air pressure reduces hence suction depth shall also reduce.

Although the water depth in the well is shallow ( around 10 meters) but there was no proof that it was pumped by this mechanism. The water amount shown in the clip is less than that poured in the blue drum.! Please proof that the wells water was pumped by using a piece of transparent tube or pressure Guage on the suction tube before the blue drum. Good luck
