Still can't belive this was something Suda worked on before No More Heroes and Killer 7, and so many more of his insane action games. The guy was always very experimental but wow, this might one of the greatest examples of a great idea with a horrible execution.

I can't believe the translators decided to call it "Michigan: Report From Hell", even though the game, y'know...isn't...set in Hell, Michigan. Seriously, that title should have been saved for an action horror game where demons invade Earth using Hell, Michigan as their home base.

Honestly? I really do think this concept has some huge potential. Heck, I wouldn't even mind if it turned out as bad as this one, as even when its done really poorly this idea just leads to some really hilarious scenes. So even if this was attempted again and ended up in a bad game again, I would still probably buy it.

The ending makes it seem like they might do a full playthrough in which case i hope they know they probably need to set EE cycle rate to 75 percent to fix a game breaking issue. (That's on newer pcsx2 builds, the ancient stable build works but has awful slowdown)

On ZaKa TV: The 1980s marked another turning point for the ISZK Group. The ISZK Group had manufactured hardware alone until the 1980s, at which time it decided to manu- facture software. Its debut was an experimental local cable channel, "ZaKa Broadcasting" which first aired in Chicago in 1981. (Later, the name was changed to "ZaKa TV," in 1982.) At its inception, it was a simple local news station. Taka Ishizaka's ideals prevailed, still: "The vital points of both news and dried foods is their 'taste'." According to these ideals, the ISZK Group adopted an extremely strict attitude toward the broadcasting of news, which didn't discriminate between times and places for their news broadcasts. (This approach earned them several lawsuits.) The result was the broadcast of immediate, "tasty" scoops. Using this approach, ZaKa TV became one of the top television stations in the United States.

I remember reading about this game twenty years ago (I think it was just going to be called Michigan at first?) and thinking the premise sounded cool... But also dicovering it was called Michigan but takes place in Chicago, which is in Illinois.

Hey Matt, found this on the Suda wiki about the game: Thought this might interest you if you ever get back to it. "Names of characters, things and locations are mostly references to famous American professional wrestlers, although some of them are misspelled. Thesz Airport is a reference to Lou Thesz. The Gagne virus is a reference to Verne Gagne. Other names include references to legendary wrestlers such as Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and the Brisco brothers among others."

Brisco's voice actor is Greg Irwin, whose last voice role according to IMDB was in a Detective Conan movie in 2014. Some of his other voice roles include some characters in Chaos Break for PS1, Andy, Joe, and Robert in KOF XII, the Black Mage in Mario Sports Mix, and possibly most notably, the announcer in Street Fighter Alpha 3 However, if his page on a website I've never heard of called "bodalgo" is to be believed, he's more so a voice-over artist for commercials and promotional videos and stuff in Japan. Apparently he's also been an MC for some Japanese events??

The terrible voice acting, laughable and non-senesical dialogue, and gameplay that is practically non-existant. Tons of clichés too. Granted, a lot of campy horror is out there, but I doubt it was intentional with this game. The fact your character is mute and doesn't just say or do anything just makes every situation look so avoidable. The animation being so sluggish doesn't help. This is a game that's fun in a bad way, but not something genuinly good. It's about as scary as a scooby doo episode.

@@CeHee123 Change "The terrible voice acting" to "Voice acting follows the theme of the japanese original rather close, where it's over the top goofy and cheesy" and it fits. The only really bad part about it imo is that it is so short, there is no real ending / conclusion or something that could hint to a sequel.
