FAQ
WHAT IS TERIYAKI CHICKEN MADE OF?
Technically speaking, teriyaki (照り焼き) is a way of cooking typically using soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TERIYAKI SAUCE AND SOY SAUCE?
Soy sauce is a single ingredient; teriyaki usually contains at least 4 ingredients. (Soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar.)
WHAT DOES TERIYAKI CHICKEN TASTE LIKE?
It has a savory taste from the soy sauce yet a sweet and caramelized taste from the sugar.
DO THEY EAT TERIYAKI IN JAPAN?
Yes, indeed! But maybe not as often as you think Japanese people would. It's not really something I personally eat often.

This is best way to make Teriyaki chicken sauce. Very simple. Many people over complicate ingredients and then its not turn out correct. One of most popular Teriyaki store in Seattle use Soy sauce, mirin and corn syrup.

i wanna say thank you, because your videos especially the Tantanmen recipe video really helped me a lot! I got hooked after eating Tantanmen for the 1st time in this ramen shop i always frequented (2yrs+ ago i was not much a fan of any type of spicy food). In my case i used Bonito broth made from scratch as the broth for the Tantanmen (using bonito flakes that i have in my pantry + water) :) Truth be told i think i like the peanut butter version (which i find more nuttier in flavor as well! + more accessible as well) + you have earned a new subscriber as well!!!! + learned some new cooking technique in making chicken teriyaki as well :)

Hi! You're very welcome, I'm happy that my recipes and videos have helped you. I haven't tried tantanmen with bonito broth, but I think that makes it healthier/less salty than the chicken broth I usually use. I'll try it next time, thanks! I like the peanut butter too! Thank you for subscribing, I hope you enjoy my future videos! :)

Is it okay to just buy the teriyaki sauce or must we make our own teriyaki sauce (i dont have mirin and sake)
@SudachiRecipes
@SudachiRecipes Ай бұрын
We don't really have pre-made teriyaki sauce in Japan, so I can't say how the recipe turns out with it. But yes, in Japan we always make our own teriyaki mixture!

If I make more of the sauce, can I plastic wrap it and keep it in the fridge for later?
@SudachiRecipes
@SudachiRecipes 7 ай бұрын
Thank you for the question! Yes, as long as it's in the uncooked state, the mixture is essentially a mix of condiments, so you can keep it in the fridge for late use!

Can I put miso (w dashi)
@SudachiRecipes
@SudachiRecipes 4 ай бұрын
Do you mean miso instead of dashi, or miso with dashi? If former, dashi here is a bonus ingredient, so you can skip it completely. If latter, you can, but you probably need to adjust the salt content by reducing the amount of soy sauce. I hope this helps!
