The reason I went to the Kite Festival: SUEDE of course! They headlined the Sunday night, closing out the festival. The day was hot and sunny but thunderstorms were predicted. They came towards the end of The Pretenders' set, cancelled CMAT's set and shortened Django Django's and Suede's set. Damn.
I knew we'd get a festival set (hits, singles) and also a shorter set but it was even shorter due to the storms that blew through. Nonetheless, this was just what I needed. I cannot wait until December to see my beloved band again, they make me crackle with fire and life! I got barrier just to the left of Brett's steps so I had a fabulous view.
This was the acoustic song of the set but was with both Neil and Richard on acoustic guitars. It took me a bit to figure out which song it would be as it sounded like 'The Wild Ones' to me initially.
I don't love this song either (and yet I videoed two of them as they're slower and I'm not jumping and screaming!) it is quite interesting that 'Head Music' got 3 songs last night - matching with the stupendous 'Autofiction' - but it is another one the crowd can easily sing along to.
Brett again goes to stage right first and gets loads of hugs and leans back into the crowd as he sings along! How fun and so special for all who got some Brett sweat. I also liked his now common speech that I videoed about the importance of communing and singing and experiencing music together. I absolutely agree. I need these Suede shows to bring me that communing time and the power and passion of their music which fills me with life and happiness.
