What is astonishing is that you have a metal band with a full orchestra and a choir going from full metal to classic and the audience finds it incredible and love to hear it and see it happened. Nobody is booing the shit out of it. This to me always tell me you have a mature audience who appreciate good music. Metal in itself and especially Symphonic Metal. but there are also other metal genre's that are very complex in its composition, and it really is closely related to classic music in many ways. The audience or the metal heads in general are the most intelligent and balanced individuals i have ever met. Whenever you go to a Metal concert the people are friendly and welcoming in nature and yes, they sometimes look very intimidating, but music is an outlet for most people to relieve them of daily stress and negative emotions. But they always have a nice time before, during and after the concert. I fel in love with Metal and it made me a better person because of it. And if music really touches you and you become emotional and start crying, this too me is the most natural thing anyone can do. If music has never touched your soul, you haven't lived through certain experiences that makes it possible to put yourself into the music and song and relive certain experience and emotion you once felt. The First time I heard Nightwish Poet and the Pendulum I cried like a baby I was totally devastated for at least a day. So never be ashamed to feel and cry.

My favorite kinds of music are classical (since age 5) and symphonic metal. I have a hard time explaining to people that Iike the same things (tempo, melody, orchestration, etc.) aboutboth kinds of music. When I try to describe AC/DC's "Who made who" as a fugue, I get blank stares from a lot of people. Ah well.

How wonderful was that! Pergolesi wrote that for his Requiem Mass getting on for 300 years ago. I'm not surprised for 1 second how you were effected by this Sue - a super beautiful piece of music and you can FEEL the sadness, it's palpable and omnipresent throughout . I think I'm right in saying that Pergolesi wrote this knowing he was dying and you can really hear it can't you! I've heard this many times before and I also come from a classical music background (mostly sacred music) my Brothers and I were lucky to sing pieces like this as part of Cathedral Choirs up and down the Country here in England - we feel very privileged to have been able to sing in concerts like this in so many medieval cathedrals. We are also complete metal heads of course 😃 - and what a wonderful crowd - you could here a pin drop in that arena - that's how captivating it was! Once again I can't thank you enough for your kind prayers - it will always mean a lot 🙏 . Take good care of yourselves. DAVID 😃

@@SueSueandthewolfman why, thanks 😊 for your gracious reply. There is a very popular school of thought that classical music - be it secular or sacred - is most closely related to heavy rock/metal music than any other. I think that's what drew my Brothers and I to it and it's therefore no surprise that I love Nightwish! Btw, I went to a concert only last week to see 2 bands with theaforementionedBrothers - one called Amaranthe (from Sweden) and Beyond the Black (from Germany), I prefer the latter, they are more symphonic metal and they have another powerhouse front woman (who Floor rates incidentally) so if you ever get some spare time, give Beyond the Black a look! Take good care of yourselves 😃 💜

Sorry I was too tired to say anything about the songs the other night. The first song is 'Hallelujah' - I just love the melody and the lyrics of this one - and the second one 'A million light years' is another is another great melody and chorus. Jennifer plays the Piano, Cello , percussion including tubular bells and one of those big Japanese drums (which she played at the concert the other week) - as well as having a great voice - given the seal of approval by the Valkyrie Godess herself!! She also appeared on the same German singing show as Floor called 'Sing Meinen Song' , sadly not the same year as Floor but a couple of years before Floor. Other up to date songs include 'Is there anybody out there' and 'Winter is Coming' . Love them both. Take care 🙂

Great reaction SueSue! This medieval hymn to Mary clearly moved you. Having some of the cultural background as a Catholic goes some ways to understand & feel the piece of course, but it isn't necessary. Had the impression that the Wolfman is somewhat lacking in that dept. considering his funny remarks abt "old priests" at 7:04. This is such a great classic in Western sacred music. Floor & Simone did the Pergolesi version and got the full metal crowd to listen in awe. Love this delicate piece, their choice to bring it to this audience and the on stage chemistry between the two. Cheers from Amsterdam! 🤘

@@SueSueandthewolfman Over here, sacred music is held in high esteem as part of Western culture. I was quite amazed by Wolfman's disinterested demeanour tbh. I guess Pergolesi's setting is the best known but there are many early settings on the Stabat Mater ("Sorrowful Mother standing"), including Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Lassus (possibly my favourite), Charpentier and des Pres to mention only the best known composers. Not often that you see a rock concert with absolute silence for a "classical" (more accurately "Early music" I guess) piece.

It's about the archetypal mother giving over the archetypal child to a hostile world. And it is specifically about a mother that gives up her Child, an innocent Child, only to watch Him die the most gruesome death possible. Betrayed by His friend, denied by His best friend, tortured and then killed by His own kinsfolk and a foreign ruler....and all of them know He is innocent. And the mother knew it would happen when He was a few months old. The plight of the archetypal mother and her children.
