Back at the castle, Shu shares the news about the town of Radat being occupied by Highland. Viktor accompanies Riou to check it out, and sees that their opposition will be Highland's 3rd company led by Kiba and his son Klaus. The highland strategist spots Riou and he tells him that Jowy is not with them since he is having his wedding with Princess Jillia at L' Renouille in highland.
The party returns to the castle as they prepare for the battle at Radat town. During the bout, Ridley questions Shu's military tactics, wondering why only his men are positioned in the front line. Unhappy with how they are treated, the Kobold commander orders the withdrawal of his Two River forces.
The Dunan army retreats to base and strategizes as the Highland forces march towards their headquarters. Klaus easily sees through Shu's plan, and orders the troops to go straight for Riou's unit. As Kiba's unit draws nearer to the Dunan army leader, they are suddenly attacked on their flanks by Ridley's kobold forces. Ridley's withdrawal was all an act to deceive the enemy forces.
Kiba's forces are completely surrounded by the Dunan army. Watching from afar, Rowd and his men retreats after receiving an order of withdrawal from Luca Blight, leaving the 3rd company in the hands of the Dunan army.
With Kiba and Klaus captured, Shu suggests that they join them as they could be valuable allies to them. The two rejects the offer, stating that they would rather die than to follow a new leader. Moments later, a messenger carries a note from the highland army, revealing that Luca Blight has become Highland's new king. Klaus ultimately deduces that Agares Blight has been killed by Luca for his throne. Shu states that Luca Blight's ambitions will not only destroy the lives of the City-State, but could also spell the end of the Highland kingdom as well. Learning of this, Kiba and Klaus finally convinced to join the Dunan army.
