Arlen (Suki Waterhouse) is abandoned in a Texas wasteland that is fenced off from civilization. While trying to navigate the unforgiving landscape, Arlen is captured by a savage band of cannibals led by the mysterious Miami Man. With her life on the line, she makes her way to The Dream. As she adjusts to life in the bad batch, Arlen discovers that being good or bad mostly depends on who's standing next to you. Join Waterhouse and director Ana Lily Amirpour as they discuss the film.

I have watched this movie about 5 times in the last 2 years. My eyes are opened to more symbolism (intended or not) every time I watch it. This one just got everything right for me.

Ms. Amirpour, I am 68 years and have seen quite a few movies. I think The Bad Batch is an excellent one! "Pre-apocalyptic" so well said! This year, I witness migrants situations in Tijuana and Thanksgiving dinners! Such is the contrast you brought in this film. You are a very smart young lady! congratulation! I raise my hat for you!

Jim Carrey brought me to Bad Batch. Loved it. Had to know who wrote/directed it and was thrilled to learn it was a young woman. Immediately researched Ana and purchased "A Girl Walks Home..." Another knockout film. To me, both are so well done...the writing, the mood and pacing, the soundtracks, all of it. With all of the superhero comic book shit being made today Ana is one of the very few making exciting and original films. If she was around in the 70s I believe she'd still stand out and be relevant. This kid is a diamond, a super talent. Listening to her talk and challenge her interviewers (not aggressively either, she's subtle) makes me adore her even more. Smart, creative, uninhibited and you can tell there's no bullshit with this gal. Fucking dynamite.

The movie is a trip and pretty messed up. Some scenes are hard to watch. Production company: Human Stew factory which fits the cannibalism right off within 10 mins into filming. The human flesh/vampire narrative or “wicked” theme is so big in film, propaganda today. As a Christian i feel disgusted for the lack of good content which doesn’t have to be biblical, just not so vile. The movie concept is creative, meaning “bad batch” and what that is defined as, as I recall only one character stated why they were there- kidnap & torture. I like K. Reeves films and found him years ago to be a shy, not so “Hollywood” type playing in an awful band but they had passion for their music. He really didn’t appear like most celebs but this movie made me think this character somehow relates to his inner feelings- as if he just fell off his way. I’m a Keanu fan, that brief encounter made me see pain in his eyes, but a yearning for authenticity and love. Woman flocked him as I stood back at the bar. He didn’t seem to appreciate the attention and I have admired him since although only minutes shared briefly. The Latin actor, Jason Momoa- I agree, “incredible specimen”. Acting was very good. Suki- never seen her in a film but great job for this role. Just a twisted, dark plot, but directing was good, and setting. Artistically production was good, I just felt a bit stomach sick as I don’t like to view such ugliness & despair shown and advertised as Mad Max meets Pretty in Pink... I think that’s what I recalled when seeing it on Netflix description? Normally I see these types attending film festivals but the twisted scene and parties is now vile, and literally “the bad batch” of many in my opinions. I’ve seen sick things and just happy I moved from LA to pacific island. Keanu- just like the movie says “what’s been done is done, what’s ahead...” good advice for you personally. :)
