I’m surprised at all the non-supportive comments, “Less is more”, “overdone”, “ruined the original”. His interpretation is not trying to “be better” than the original. It’s a completely different take to the original that it becomes his own. Stop comparing it to the original. It’s not sacrilege to modify Sultans of Swing. Lol. I understand the less is more philosophy. I happen to think the solo at the end of Comfortably Numb is one of the best solos ever and it’s not overly technical. But it is exactly the technicality and runs performed here that I really like, it’s well done for what it is. I think it’s genius. Let’s be honest, some of the comments are by guitar players who are envious of this guy because they can never play like this guy.

Absolutely correct. However it feels hard for me to take buskers seriously who pander to the audience with their setlists, and Sultans is definetly a certified boomer classic.

Miguel not only played his very own version of Sultans of Swing, he picked that song up, threw it in the air, slashed it out of the air with his guitar & slammed it into the permanent memory of that street corner forever. Best version of this song ever. So good, that Dire Straights should feature this version on their greatest hits album.

The improvisation by Miguel, the additions, and take-offs while returning to the root of the piece are indicative of the talent of this young man. He takes us on a virtual tour of Sultans with more chord progressions than the ear can imagine, and returns to the original seamlessly; a sign of a very accomplished musician.

I cannot begin to explain my admiration for Miguel Montalban. This man, not only has extraordinary guitar techniques, but is able to phrase them into tearing and heart-ripping melodic arrangements. It's a very personal opinion, but his musical sense resonates through me and through I believe a lot of people. His music profoundly touches me where a very few things do. Miguel Montalban, I don't where you are at the moment or how you are doing, but I wish you all the best.

At first, wanted to state 'over embellished', but that's unfair. That young man understands one of the greatest bits of music ever pulled out of strings. He clearly can play. Note body language, even his feet say 'concentration' and 'focus'; pure confidence. We don't need identical covers, we know how it goes, interpretations are what prove great music.

When I was young everyone was required to play an instrument of some sort at least one year, usually either in elementary school or high school or both. I think the problem is that people these days have 0% exposure to real music and have never even tried to play a real instrument. People are totally ignorant of how hard it is to even play a guitar in a mediocre fashion, and this guy just crushed it. One of the best covers I have ever heard.

Question: Who's more likely to leave a hateful remark; an expert guitarist or a failed guitarist? A person who's on the path to their dreams or a person who's given up? The haters hate themselves and justify it to the world behind the safety of an anonymous screen name. THANKS FOR UPLOADING!!!

It's called an interpretation. It's the musician's interpretation of the song. He is not trying to play sultans note for note. Even when knopfler plays it night after night he doesn't play it note for note. What kind of world would we live in if every artist copied the next. Why would we need more than one artist in any discipline. This guitarist is extraordinary.

The most awesome cover of Sultans of Swing I've ever seen on the internet. No, it's not just a 'cover', it's underestimate. It's his own 'interpretation' of the piece. I have to say so because all the other covers (of the piece) are just mere 'covers' , that is, mere 'copies', but this guy plays it in his way . Amazing ! He made the piece much more colorful by giving it a Latin touch in some parts. My jaw dropped all through the listening. My Goodness ! Why does he play on a street? Why doesn't he make his album? Why doesn't he do real concerts?

This song and in particular this performance reaches out and wraps itself around your spine and then down into the depths of your soul!

Peter Slisarenko Kinda like the original did to me 40 years ago.

I like that he is giving the song his own treatment and not just copying the original version.

He's not even keeping time by tapping his foot or ANYTHING... He truly is better than all of us 🤷

This guy doesn’t play music. It oozes from his pores. I love it when a musician feels the music he or she is playing. Excellent guitar player.

This made me tear up. I know nothing about music except if it catches my ear and moves my heart this did both. Wow I can’t imagine the time this guys spent with this guitar to get so good. It’s like a old friend they just get each other. Keep it up buddy.

I can't stand this negativity. Dude is out there giving beautiful music to the soulless shopping zombies. I love it. Would've sat down and closed my eyes and soak up the vibe. If y'all stop criticizing everything so much you might find life enjoyable again. Dare try. It's more fulfilling I promise. Love your playing, thank you ❤

Such an amazing guitar player. I see him performing, every time I go to central London (piccalilly), I guess he does it every day or every weekends.
