Not sure what exactly prevents you from getting in the headspace to really experience music like this, Brad, but I hope that changes, and Lex is right. Each note is an emotion. It's meant to be that way, the music is meant to be a part the story. That's why you get breaks in the singing to allow space for the music to support the story. That's the genius of real actual honest to God music is it's able to do that. It's not like that anymore for the most part.

With many Iron Maiden songs, you get an accurate history lesson. The Trooper tells the account of a British soldier during the Crimean War. Lord Cardigan led the British cavalry against Russian forces during the Battle of Balaclava on 25 October 1854. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a suicide mission charging straight at heavy Russian artillery which cost the lives of 600 British soldiers. This inspired Alfred Lord Tennyson to write a poem called The Charge of the Light Brigade. Great reaction as always 👍 Edit: Other great Iron Maiden history lessons you could check out.... Would love to see Lex jam out to a Randy Rhoads solo (my personal favorite). Any song from Ozzy Osbourne's live "Tribute" album will do, but the "Mr. Crowley" solo is what many recommend. Randy was a friendly rival to Eddie Van Halen in the 80s. He was so monumental in the metal world and his death such a surprise that temporary replacement Brad Gillis of Night Ranger (also incredibly talented) would occasionally get booed by fans expecting Randy-esque solos. One of those sad-to-see moments, because people just wanted someone to blame despite Brad playing some great shows and limited time to really sync with the band and the music he had to learn given the situation.

“You got all that just from the sound?” That, right there, is the raison d'être of metal music. The musicianship, the flow of the notes, the grind of the rhythm … the sound … all convey moods and emotions. Granted, metal music isn’t for everyone, and it shouldn’t be, but it *is* about the musicians presenting emotion through sound. Heck, much of the time I’m only vaguely aware of the specifics of the lyrics; the vocals are instead another emotive instrument for me.

During the Mamas and the Papas he said hearing them singing in harmony, was "like nails on a chalkboard." He always seems annoyed by guitar solos too. For someone who likes Hip Hop and Rap he rarely mentions the Bass lines in the songs. He occasionally mentions the drums but if it's an iconic drum fill or groove, it seems lost on him. He seems like a VERY intelligent and good dude. Someone you would want as a neighbor to sit and drink a beer and BS with. I hope this isn't taken as mean spirited. Peace!

Based on the poem "Charge of the Light Brigade" by Alfred Lord Tennyson. And we think modern soldiers make sacrifices. Imagine being an old-school calvaryman, just "plunging" into action on horseback with muskets.

ive been a maiden fan forever. They run through my veins. I listen to them every day and i can talk about them all day but you just gave the best analogy ive ever heard of how each note is an 'emotion'. That's what Iron Maiden music does to you. you feel it to your very core. i dont know how they do it. its perfect. I wish my wife got as excited as Lex by maiden music lol

The guy needs to lighten up. So tense. The girl is more laid back & natural.

Brad bruh just let the music hit the soul and vibe with it like lex it definitely changes the way you get into the song. I usually first listen just sit and feel the song out then worry bout lyrics and what the story is later
@IASP173 жыл бұрын
Im not saying lyrics are not important but people sometimes care too much about them and what they mean and its like they dont even hear the music. its unfortunate.
@xboxgamertrev67633 жыл бұрын
@@IASP17 Exactly it's like each of them have their respective role to play you can't just focus on lyrics or just the guitar or any other instrument for that matter it's fine to through listening to it but it's best when you experience the whole picture instead of focusing on one particular thing

I just found you guys, and I was like, I wonder if they’ve done Trooper. You do not disappoint. Highly enjoyable hearing these songs again for the first time through you. Thank You!

I think that to really appreciate music, you need to engage both your brain and your heart. Without wishing to sound disrespectul, Brad is the intellectual reactor and Lex is the emotional reactor, so between you, you've got both covered.

Gotta love how Iron Maiden is like a musical History lesson. If History was told in this fashion in school I know kids would actually learn it. History is honestly the most important subject to study, learn and analyze. If you can't get it into your understanding and decision making then you will be bound to repeat history. "Doing the same thing repeatedly expecting a different result is the definition of Insanity."

Lex.. seems as if you "feel" the music... I Myself interpret music as "Colors" ... my Rainbow is complete. A Rainbow MUST have all the colors before its complete.

This band is underrated on this channel, they are the real METAL LEGENDS, Metallica Megadeth and most of the bands inspired by them.

Those of us that truly love music know that Lex is part of this tribe. It's in our souls! She is a metal head but so is anyone who just feels music. And Iron Maiden is undeniable!

How can you not be in the story when you hear this song? The galloping riffs charging forward, holding musket, riding into the Russian front line, while horses go down left and right. I'm right there with the song.

Both of you are fantastic and I stopped watching reaction videos for a long time until I found you two. You compliment each other so well and I wish you both a long and love-filled life! No offense Brad, but I think you realize that Lex is the superstar here... she truly feels the flow. I appreciate your analytical side too, of course. That's where you guys are so great together!

I ran into one of the guitarists for Iron Maiden while I was living in Eindhoven, Netherlands. He was just chillin at the pub, watching a band play at the bar that night. Was pretty cool. Didn’t know who he was after drinking next to him for 20 minutes and minor chit chat until someone told me haha.

As A Calvary man this is one of my favorite songs as they made it an ODE to Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava. The movie Blind Side mentioned it for the essay he needed to write.
