Indeed it's interesting how she gets the emotions that are conveyed through the solos and how melodic the song sounded. Most Iron Maiden songs are melodic. You can hum or whistle almost every single one of their songs. Even their solos.

That's funny because it seems the exact opposite to me. These two are like fire and ice. They rarely agree with each other. She's always trying to express her feelings and he has no idea what she's talking about. Then he'll make some silly comment then you can see a funny expression on her face like she's thinking "what?" It's almost like he can't figure out the fundamentals of a heavy metal song. It's like he gets jealous of how easily Lex can adapt to any music you put in front of her. He rarely gets In the groove he looks like he's totally lost most of the time. Meanwhile Lex is over there bobbing your head to the rhythm totally feeling the song. Especially during a guitar solo. She's the reason I subscribed to the channel. Lol

Lex experiences the music spatially and textually in her mind as I do where lyrics are at a low priority. But she’s far better at verbalizing that experience. Poor Brad seems to be stuck in a two dimensional experience.

I mean she's totally great with her emotional & instinctive interpretation of what's going on in a song BUT this is a show and the show needs dynamics. Heavy Metal is not dark side. Bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Metallica, etc, make songs about dark things, but as a warning not as celebration of darkness. There are morons who think that if they say 'Hail Satan' once more then some other bands, it will lead them to glory, and there are those who like that. But best of Metal is not on dark side.

Not sure what exactly prevents you from getting in the headspace to really experience music like this, Brad, but I hope that changes, and Lex is right. Each note is an emotion. It's meant to be that way, the music is meant to be a part the story. That's why you get breaks in the singing to allow space for the music to support the story. That's the genius of real actual honest to God music is it's able to do that. It's not like that anymore for the most part.

He rarely finds the groove he looks like he's completely lost most of the reactions. Meanwhile Lex is sitting over there moving to the groove and feeling the Rhythm. She doesn't miss a beat especially during a guitar solo. Then she'll try to say something that totally makes sense and he always has some lame comment or tries to disagree. With many Iron Maiden songs, you get an accurate history lesson. The Trooper tells the account of a British soldier during the Crimean War. Lord Cardigan led the British cavalry against Russian forces during the Battle of Balaclava on 25 October 1854. Lord Raglan had intended to send the Light Brigade to prevent the Russians from removing captured guns from overrun Turkish positions. However, there was miscommunication in the chain of command and the Light Brigade was instead sent on a suicide mission charging straight at heavy Russian artillery which cost the lives of 600 British soldiers. This inspired Alfred Lord Tennyson to write a poem called The Charge of the Light Brigade. Great reaction as always 👍 Edit: Other great Iron Maiden history lessons you could check out.... Run to the Hills, Alexander the Great, Paschendale and Empire of the Clouds. Any Maiden, you can't miss. Up the Irons!!!

People listen to hard rock and metal because it sounds good to them, if they like the sound they might delve into the meaning of the lyrics. It's not spoken word poetry. And the music is the music, the instrument playing is the point. It's not something you wait to be over so you can dissect the lyrics, Brad. Lex is a natural rocker. You guys should react to instrumental music of all types so Brad is forced to learn that music is the playing of musical instruments.

Would love to see Lex jam out to a Randy Rhoads solo (my personal favorite). Any song from Ozzy Osbourne's live "Tribute" album will do, but the "Mr. Crowley" solo is what many recommend. Randy was a friendly rival to Eddie Van Halen in the 80s. He was so monumental in the metal world and his death such a surprise that temporary replacement Brad Gillis of Night Ranger (also incredibly talented) would occasionally get booed by fans expecting Randy-esque solos. One of those sad-to-see moments, because people just wanted someone to blame despite Brad playing some great shows and limited time to really sync with the band and the music he had to learn given the situation.

“You got all that just from the sound?” That, right there, is the raison d'être of metal music. The musicianship, the flow of the notes, the grind of the rhythm … the sound … all convey moods and emotions. Granted, metal music isn’t for everyone, and it shouldn’t be, but it *is* about the musicians presenting emotion through sound. Heck, much of the time I’m only vaguely aware of the specifics of the lyrics; the vocals are instead another emotive instrument for me.

If you get the chance, Maiden is one of the select few rock bands still active that absolutely MUST be experienced live. They definitely put on an amazing and well-rehearsed show, but, it’s not at all stale, unlike, say, the ‘Stones. But, as with The Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden could easily do a worldwide stadium tour if they wanted, and every ticket would be snapped up immediately.

@@christianbriggs7991 I don't mean this as an insult either. I wonder if he is on the Autism Spectrum. He often says he doesn't know what he should be focused on. The drums , guitar or the singer? During the Mamas and the Papas he said hearing them singing in harmony, was "like nails on a chalkboard." He always seems annoyed by guitar solos too. For someone who likes Hip Hop and Rap he rarely mentions the Bass lines in the songs. He occasionally mentions the drums but if it's an iconic drum fill or groove, it seems lost on him. He seems like a VERY intelligent and good dude. Someone you would want as a neighbor to sit and drink a beer and BS with. I hope this isn't taken as mean spirited. Peace!

History is honestly the most important subject to study, learn and analyze. If you can't get it into your understanding and decision making then you will be bound to repeat history.
