Here in Brazil, we are harvesting our second crop in a pivot and also in a non-irrigated area. At first we harvested soybeans and now corn. I am a producer and agronomist here in Brazil, we produce corn, soybeans and sugar cane. I hope one day to visit production areas in the United States.

First off, I love your videos... I grew up in eastern Iowa, and while we only had a couple acres, we milked one or two cows, raised a couple pigs and 100 chickens every year, and had a half acre garden. I worked a lot on our neighbors farms, which I loved. I miss the wholesome lifestyle. My one comment for you is, do more to protect your hearing. Those kernels of corn are very hard, so it gets very loud when the conveyors are running and when it is being dumped into the trucks. You are young, but trust me, hearing loss is gradual and accumulative, take care to keep your hearing for life. Best of luck with your farming, thanks for letting us ride along.

Sad that I used to work at Midwest Irrigation in Henderson and recognized the couplers on the pipes. I hauled thousands of miles of pipe to farmers from Texas to Canada, Idaho to Illinois. First job I had after graduating from Aurora High.

Your grain bin set up reminds me of the grain farm I worked on. It was called, "chasing the sweep" when cleaning out the bin. Your lucky your floor is flat and not slotted, much harder to sweep the floor! A big upgrade we got was a grain vacuum. Also dumping grain on the crossbow makes a mess, I've done it too.

Have you tried a canvas hose from the loading pipe down to truck height. Would prevent a lot of corn spray. Railroads used them on water tank spouts so water wouldn’t splash all over when loading the tender.

Along I-80 the other evening, quite near you, the setting sun ran its final rays across the new tassels, lighting the top of the field golden,, and the pollen (I think), was a gentle fog across the fields in a purple haze. It was nothing less than magnificent. Sunset , green corn,, golden tops, and a purple fog floating gently over all. And me doing about 70mph with a canoe strapped to the roof of the truck.

@@LauraFarms Maybe his, within 10 or 20 miles at least, right area. The thing that surprised me was the velvet purple fog laid just over the fields. Never seen it before. Is that the pollen I was seeing? Or, laughing, had crop duster come through an hour before? Don't know, doesn't matter,, mighty pretty though. See you in a few weeks. Canoe, Utah, and the Green River, launch today.

Embarrassing corn story: Family cook out and I was going to stop at a produce stand I drive by all the time to pick up some corn. I get there and the stand is closed, but right across the street is a huge corn field. Yep I waded into the field, the corn was full size and yellow so I stole 8 ears and headed to the party. They cooked all the corn on the grill and when people started biting into it everyone was like "yuk" where did you get this corn? It was apparently feed corn. OOPS!
