The best aromatics I’ve found are the Lakeland flakes by Gawith. Coniston cut plug, for example. Very high quality tobaccos used. And the topping is made with natural ingredients. Granted, the floral essence is an acquired taste. But I don’t smoke anything that’s topped unless it’s a Gawith Lakeland.

Oh man this was a fun one: Goddamn believe it or not I just forgot the tamperer- Hang-in. Back again- let’s get started because suns up now and I don’t know how long I can stand it. So for you guys who are into the burning rubber notes I think there’s some good opportunity here on the German market with this years Special Editions and perhaps it’s good too see someone trying to fill that void. 😂😂😂😂😂 I am very much enjoying all your old tobacco reviews/random chats and that custom stem has me mesmerized- How could anyone not want to put that thing in their mouth 😅

Hi Mark, great to see you're back with another video. I wish you could return to the days of landmarks, old castles and monasteries. I loved the pipe tobacco with the history. As for Rattray tobacco, I don't the Scots would waste their on these new tobaccos and probably more proud of what Rattray used to be than where they are now. NICE pipe. Thanks for sharing.

I love that you spent 40 minutes talking about tobaccos that are expensive and exclusive but obviously not extraordinary. ❤Also loving your irony (poor Scots 😂). In general I'm very sceptical about special editions. The spaghetti ice catched my attention though. Actually I'm smoking it right now - still figuring out, if I like it or not. Can't detect rubber but I'm not convinced yet. Good aromatics are something very rare indeed.

Still, I hope one is worth buying…especially at Christmas time 😄🎅🏻 I rely on your excellent insights to guide me…if I buy anything…and thank you my friend 😊😉

Firstly it is always a pleasure to hear from you. It’s sad that you don’t bring good news of decent summer editions. I’m not very partial to burnt rubber and vape juice flavourings ..so I’ll give them a miss. By the by thistles may grow well in Scotland but mangoes are a lot harder to cultivate in that northern climate. K & K sorry & 30.90euros is too expensive even in a jewel box 🤣I agree that HU Haymaker is a nice smoke.

A lovely morning and a lovely location. It does seem like most of the special seasonal tobaccos disappoint, specially at 30euros, but your lovely pipes never disappoint. We heard from Lester that Dan Tobacco is or has closed the brick and morter shop there in Germany. A real loss. Fortunately the Dan tobaccos will continue to be produced. Hi Mark! I quit the special editions couple years ago,except last year,bought a winter edition,failed,not my kind of tobaccos,sometimes I like aromatics but the decent old style danish ones! I don't have a summer tobacco,but when it's very hot straight Virginia like the Haymaker is never wrong! Have a nice summer time, Dominik👍✌

However I always wondered what spaghetti ice & rubber would taste like😂 I’m an old timer myself and when I think of Rattray’s I think of Old Gowrie, Accounts etc. sometimes I think that these companies should stay with what made them well known. Poor Scottish folks was funny. Always enjoy your humor and insight down here in central Alabama 😎

Man, if you can stomach it- 😂- I’d continue doing these just for the satire, and comedy value!!😅 Ps. I gambled on the Rattrays Yesr of the Tiger aromatic, based on the quality of their Exotic Orange one… Only tried it once thus far, but seems in line w the latter, thank God!🤣✌️

The reason why the Rattrays tin says that the Scots can be proud of this tobacco is because of the thistle as you said it's a national symbol and it's also due to the fact that Rattrays was a Scottish company back in the day😃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I have that same Altinay pipe and love it! Mine had a defective plastic filter insert, so I had it fixed by a stem repair service but it is still a bit delicate. Does your friend accept stem commissions? I am in America but I love his stems and would love to have one made for my Altinay. I think I recall from an older video that he does not, but I have to ask anyway. Always nice to see a new video from you, my friend. Wishing you a wonderful summer!

Hi Mark! Good to see you again - been too long. I reckon the issue with limited edition aromatics is that if the blend was any good, it would be in the regular range. I don’t smoke aromatics - so I’m no expert on the form. But the theory holds that if the blending house stumbled upon a winner, they would release it as a regular staple of the range - not as a limited edition.

Hello Mark, I'm glad that I'm not alone in my opinion that the last Kohlhase tobaccos are "questionable". I don't know if you saw my last video, but Kohlhase's Special 2023 is a disaster for me. However, I have to admit that I find the spaghetti ice tobacco a success. I can't detect any rubber either, but there is a good taste of vanilla and strawberry. What I can't pin down is what makes spaghetti ice special: the frozen cream at the bottom of the sundae. 😂 In general, I know the Danske Club tobaccos as less desirable, but I find the Summer Editions very good. I thought last year's was a little better. Maybe you can still find a pouch somewhere. Otherwise I wish you a nice weekend and better tobaccos. Unfortunately, a meeting in Bremen didn't work out. But my visit at Ronnies was still sucessfull😁 Greetings Andreas

Greetings Mark my friend! Again, it seems that the special editions aren't so special for this summertime! A disappointment, since these companies are entirely capable of creating something really special. I have always enjoyed the JA special editions, except the last few years have seen a real change and drop in quality in these blends.... something I have looked forward to having in my pipe. Great to see you Mark. I think it’s time to stop the summer reviews, no fault of yours, they just seem to churn out rubbish. The ability to blend summer, spring and winter tobacco every year would immediately raise questions re. quality. I also find it patronising that pipe smokers will be sold on a pretty tin with content less important. I also think you are better than these products now and as such draw a line under summer/spring etc tobaccos. Always a please to see you

Perhaps the taste of burning rubber is an indication that this product should not be smoked?? Pushing past your senses and trying to normalize or brush off your instincts may cause you serious health concerns sooner than you may think. I guess it's like putting your hand in a meat grinder, once you start you just can't stop? But seriously, I did believe that you were much more intelligent than your actions dictate.
