Walking again in the city of Johannes Vermeer, Porcelain and the University of Technology, one of the best in the world. Lovely historic Delft.
A longer walk and mostly a different route this time.

Funny story: at 23:58 just before you cross the white bridge. My grandparents live on the other side on the voorstraat and my grandpa actually was the major of delft around 1980! I loved the vid, it was really beautifull!

This has been my home since the last 3 years. I must say this is 1 of the best videos of the city. Would have loved to catch a glimpse of the TU as well. But it is nice otherwise too. Goed gedaan! Bedankt!

My mom & dad were born in Delft, so i had uncles and aunts living there. Close to the windmill on phoenixstraat and bagijnhof, my opa was living close to them. Beautifull video great memories.

Briljant video. At 1:41 left first floor appartement were my grandparents use to live. Remember so well sitting in their living and French balcony watching the ships go by. Always have a soft spot for Delft, my family roots lie there. Especially my dad was so into Delft. Good memories 😀

Even though it's not what you intended, this is still an amazing documentation of how the Dutch failed to recognize the dangers of COVID-19 last summer. It will be interesting to see what happens this year, especially with UK visitors bringing in the new variants from India. Fingers crossed that the vaccines remain effective. Stay cautious Thomas. 😷

Excellent video as usual Thomas! I have fond memories of Delft...I often went there by tram from Den Haag with colleagues. Amazingly beautiful city. Walking there again virtually was a touching experience. Thank you for your crisp and excellent videos.

Yoh Thomas, kom ook eens naar het mooie vesting plaats Gorinchem. Met zijn mooie stadswallen, molens, centrum, Lingehaven etc. Ik wil je, als Gorcumoloog, best een keertje rondleiden.

Thank you for the video. Every so often, I send your videos to Russian groups, in urbanistic ones, in particular, showing people the Dutch approach to how it's needed to create city blocks, sidewalks, roads, etc. We are still having myriads of problems with city planning such as high-rise buildings, curved roads, lack of traffic islands, and many other faults. Keep on shooting.

You think Russia is ready for the Dutch infrastructure approach?, i would imagine that it would piss off a lot Russian people if they had to change their ways to live like this. Its not just the infrastructure that could trigger change, but also the mindset around it, same for our cycling infrastructure that many countries are painfully trying to adapt into their infrastructure..

Thanks for viewing! Personally I like Highrises (I'm in the minority) and the number is increasing quick here because of the high population density. If it's done well with interesting architecture, plenty of greenery around it and well placed in the city plan, I'm fine with them.

@@wanderingthomas : The highrise neighborhood 1 kilometer southwest of Station Delft is done well. One of the best examples in Holland that I'm aware of.

@@AmirulIslam-qn6yh this was 2 days after my birthday. i so hope we go back to normal. we are all in lockdown. :( i miss the people and the antique market and the restaurants. if we are back to normal you shaould come back and eat at Ladera. that is a little bit further straight through at 5:00.

I love Delft - wonderful city to visit. Thank you for the tour! I noticed around 34:28 the lamp posts made of blue and white porcelain? Just like the ones they have on the streets of Jingdezhen - the home on Chinese pottery - whose china (stolen and then imported by the VOC) inspired the Delft potters to make their famous Delfts Blauw! Amazing!! I wonder if they are a copy or a gift?

Nice relaxed views of Delft, the way it would be seen if you were there in person. I like the slow and steady camerawork - you must have a heavy camera mount? Plus careful walking technique :-). Don’t see anyone with face masks...half the people on the street here in U.K. wearing one.

Virus cannot infect others outside when it's sunny, warm and humid. Wearing masks outside is only helpful in dry weather when temperature is between 0 and 12 degrees Celsius. It's no use taking measures that are not helping.

I actually think it means it's quite clean and natural? The canals in Amersfoort also have many lilies and plants. Amsterdam, not that much 🙂 Thanks for viewing Endah!

The water lillies and diverse floating vegetation are actually an indication that the water quality is quite good. When the canals are completely covered with Duckweed, however, that is not a good sign and points to a hypertrophic situation. Btw nice video of my home town.
