hey guys this is a practice animation, I've done inbetween work.
it's also the cleanup of the last stream, that unfortunetely got taken down.
To make up with it, i added the timelapse aswell.
(even if i am not a big fan of timelapses)
the overall effective work time is around 22 hrs.
I hope you enjoy!

Noice. It's not surprising looking at the quality of his work. I guess he's a legit WebGen animator hall-of-famer now. Also, a bit of info for those who might not know. But anime studios generally only hire these animators for specific episodes. So it usually doesn't necessarily mean they work for that anime project/studio. It's kinda like these studios call on specific mercenaries to do animations that knock the episode fight scenes out of the park when it's needed. And some of these "mercs" are pretty famous for their work across different titles and studios. Someone can correct me though. This is just my understanding so far.

considering there are up to 30-40 keyanimators alone working on a single action episode and you also have multiple directors, multiple douga artists (probably around 30-40 people aswell), voice actors, production assistents, production managers. yeah, no your calculation seems to be pretty off if you wanna say that a single person could do this much in this amount of time.

Hey YenYen, If I may ask you, do you think it's worth it to learn Japanese language in order to learn Japanese animation? I've been learning animation for 2 month and I think there's very little information on the internet about Japanese animation in English. I really want to learn Japanese animation but I fear that at some point I'll miss out on a lot of insights and my progress will be stopped by the language barrier. (I don't want to become an animator in Japan tho, I learn just for my own projects). I've seen you using Japanese on twitter so I thought you'll have some thoughts on this, sorry for the inconvenience if I'm wrong

i personally started with pivotstickfigure animator (as first software to learn about motion) and macromedia flash 8 (for fullbodies/rough traditional drawings). They are pretty simple to get and there are many tutorials for it. I recommend flash for sure because of all the options and tools it has. Great software and if you got a decent computer it should be relatively stable.

Hi, can I ask something? I have some good knowledge in drawing and I love it but I still have a long way to go. I am a noob at animating. I live in Canada and there is a very high quality animation school here, but I'm more a fan of Sakuga animation such as your work rather than a western style. I'll be 18 in a month, and though my parents are supportive they'd still like me to go to a school of some kind. I'm really torn on what my next steps should be, any thoughts? May I ask what you did when you were 18, and if you're self taught how did you study while keeping a roof over your head? Sorry if this was a little long, but we talked in a striving for animation stream and you were very helpful.
@yen_bm
@yen_bm 3 жыл бұрын
hey! mh, so personally speaking i did some complete different stuff from animation at your age. Just with 22 i started to learn about sakuga myself and tried to approach that style. I've been doing plenty of other jobs that i really didn't enjoy at all for around 3 years until i came to the point where i was capable of becoming a fulltime freelancer. I spend all my freetime educating myself and practicing. it is definetely possible to learn on your own in a way, but you really might need have a good community backing you up and the consistency to do the things outside of your comfortzone. I do suggest to go to an animationschool. if you manage to get in you'll have more direct influences from other animators aswell. the sakuga style is still something you can develope for yourself. No knowledge should be neglected, you will never know when it comes in handy.

@@yen_bm Dude, thank you for your insight and experience, and I agree, the 12 principals are relevant in any style (knowledge is commutive). I've just been really stressed because I want to make sure I pick the right choice, and I see people my age who are leagues above in skill. I think I worry a little too much about the future; I have a whole life ahead. As long as I keep focus and have a good community to motivate me, my path will work itself out no matter what I end up choosing. (I still have a bit of time to decide on schools.) And thank you for being active in your comments answering questions and such, that's awesome and you're awesome! I look forward to your next work man!

@yen_bm
@yen_bm 3 жыл бұрын
yeah you can just press on the animation folder, then you go to layers and turn down the opacity there. that way all the frames in that animationfolder will be more transparent. if you want to do that for invidual layers/cels, you need to select that invidual cel or layer. if you cannot find the layers, go to the window tab > Layer.
