Sun Moon Lake is a very popular place to visit in Taiwan, and an extremely romantic one as well. This lake so famous that many people visit (including my wife Li :) with this as their main planned destination.
A gorgeous lake at moderate elevation, it’s surrounded by boat piers, full of scenic overlooks, the weather is cooler due to the altitude, and for me the nearby forests just make it quite complete.
I had visited after a bicycle race, and it was THIS restaurant where I came every day here. The beef noodles were my go-to dish, so now that I have the chance to come back with Li today, we’re gonna order some other things on the menu.
Thank you very much for continuing the Taiwan trip with us, it’s a place already very special to me (after only two visits!), Taiwan is truly amazing.

Would like to see this culture in India . The wild vegetable dish with fiddle heads , carrots and some olive 🫒. The lettuce and cabbage fried with ginger, garlic & Soy sauce 👌 Good insight into the food culture of restaurants in Taiwan 🇹🇼👌👌 I knew you would go in for the chillis to amp up the flavour of the “Sweet & Fatty” sausage 👍 Yes the Cordia Dichotoma is also called a “Indian Cherry” Li confirms that the restaurant is very popular and she is thoroughly enjoying her lunch 👌 Brilliant articulation on the taste & texture profile of the Lu Rou Fan 💯💯 Now it’s rice time and great way to incorporate all the main dishes with the rice 👌 Yes I thoroughly enjoyed watching this vlog . Those green seeds are preserved cordia dichotoma (破布子). They have a salty taste with a bit of acidity to it. We use them to enhance the flavor of certain dishes. The funky, wild greens are fiddleheads （過貓菜）, which are part of the fern family. Taiwanese harvest them as vegetables. I hope you enjoy your visit in Taiwan, and please try out more Taiwanese cuisine! 🇹🇼

@@JoelsTastyRide Hi Joel. I’m from Puli, a small town in Nantou County. A short drive from Sun Moon Lake will take you there. If you love braised port rice. You must to try out 李仔哥爌肉飯 in Puli. Their braised pork is served in large cut pieces. Amazing texture and taste. You also need to try Taiwanese meatballs （Ba Wan). 阿甲肉圓 is another must try eatery over there. Operated since 1949, and still going strong. Love your videos. Please keep up the brilliant work!

If I should use that word, kinda sad that there aren’t many spicy foods and I only say it that way because IF there were just a few curry recipes and/or a spicy noodle dish, the entire cuisine would be high in the World Food lists (I think probably more than just my opinion but, definitely my opinion!!)

Wow! You can bike at that altitude? I went to Steamboat Springs once (It's at 2000m elevation) I couldn't climb a flight of stairs! But then I've lived all my life at sea level.

I love that message because I love steamboat Springs :-) we were there last summer, it was Li’s first trip to the USA… well I can also smile and mention that you did not see the video from a few days ago because, actually the title is 3420m altitude heavenly lunch :) haha So, 3420 is much higher than 2000… and yes we biked (very hard!), I rode there 4 days, 4 spectacular days!!

I love your vids, have watched them from your earliest days. I can see why you & Mark are such good buddies and how you must have enjoyed travelling together😊 It's interesting to me that you incorporate your faith, always showing us your pre-supper prayer, whereas Mark makes no reference to his. I think he probably didn't want to put people off watching his video's so chose to leave faith out of his craft. But I actually don't mind you praying etc in your video's, I don't find it off-putting because it's part of who you are and you are a very kind human being😊

Hello Joel and everyone! We are back from our Thailand vacation but the last few days of it we got some devastating news and when we got home we had to head to our other place a couple days later for the funeral on the 24th of a real good friend of ours (he was like a 2nd dad to Tanya). We are doing fine, heartbroken but we will get through it.
