Soup Today is definitely one of the better Chinese food restaurants in Medan, quite affordable too because Chinese Indonesian owned restaurants in Indonesia have a reputation of being pricey 😅I used to rate 31 pare house as the best Chinese food restaurant in Medan but the last time I went there the taste of the dishes I ordered had significant downgrade unfortunately, still tasty though and also on the more affordable side because while the prices were quite high the portion of the dishes were also big.

Great vid. I'm an amateur nature/bird photographer. Thank heaven for not having these many great establishments where I live. I would go from photographing to eating and back. You guys at least burn off what you eat....... 😁 I sometimes sit on my behind for hours on end.... BTW have been cooking yummy food for many years.

Joel I don't think Ali realises the profound impact he had in those videos, how much people fell inlove with him and appreciated how he help to showcase the people, the food, the culture and took care of all of you. Appreciated his personality, mannerisms and his spirit his humbleness. Ali also brought so much fun to the video and a togetherness. This is why that bond and connection was felt and made with him, you and Mark. Ali made it easy to relate and adopt the diversity of Pakistan. When Ali spoke about the little boy and his father it brought tears to my eyes and I hope you to Joel realises what you also do by supporting and showcasing places/vendors/restaurants, food/people that may otherwise have gone unnoticed. I absolutely enjoyed this entire video. Love and respect to Ali, you and Mark. I was smiling and crying❤ You all are forever my family 😊 Joel I really enjoyed the photos made memories while listening to you and Ali❤

Love that place. The texture of the tea leaf salad is sooo good. I support kon Myanmar whenever possible. I've been to Myanmar before the coup......amazing. See you in CM in November.

Hummus is a levant dish that was stolen by the Jews ( like many dishes ) and claimed as their own like the shakshouka and others. People need to research this info before claiming it’s a Jewish dish , that’s how gossip spreads

Hey Don man :) Hope you (both) are doing great today!! Man, the stinky tofu, as Billy says "a food group on its own" (which in Taiwan might be true <3 ). Its pretty good man, but also kinda stinky, it is definitely much stronger in flavor than Tua Nao but without the massive salt addition. I dont think many people are snacking on stinky tofu though, and Tua Nao can be taken in a to-go bag quite easily... so they are both great!

Think I like that partially prepared "mini" hot pot better than the traditional one, at least for smaller parties. There was an abundance of different ingredients and it all looked fresh and clean and 'stinky' ;-) Thanks Joel

Dear Joel - It’s so sweet of you to remind us of the most important thing in life “ Gratitude” for living yet another day . I just have a question for you ; why is that you and Mark both love Stinky food like the Stinky Tofu , Stinky beans etc .. is it something that both of you as kids were used to having and enjoying Stinky yet delicious food . I am genuinely so happy for you . Hats off to the fact that after riding your bike for 6 hours you look fresh and also wish us the best . And yet, we as inquisitive minds still cannot stop but search, and discuss, most importantly laugh :) and continue the quest for some type of explanation... So!! Let me try.

I think in this case, the video includes something stinky, and so you ask about something of this sort, but I think its more along the lines of ANYTHING crazy, anything that is pushing the limits of what our world's cuisines have to offer, and it tends to be the case that MOST people find either very stinky, very bitter, or very sour things to be classed into a category of their own (in each culture/cuisine), and so these become a topic of focus. Therefore, when one visits a new culture, its kinda easy to figure out what these outlier foods are, and then go directly to try them!! And I guess, there's a sort of adventure in itself, but also yes, as you notice both I and my good friend, we DO enjoy these unexpected and wild flavors, truly, there's no faking it, but there's also an aspect of fun, doing something that is just totally unique!! And I guess others might enjoy new and unique experiences outside of food... for the most part, we just go for the ones that are related to food sensations :)

and as to the reason BEHIND it? I come back to the beginning and say, I cannot think of one single reason, because actually I do not come from a culture that has a very famous cuisine, or famously diverse array of foods. Its almost like my interest in various human experiences, and natural adventures, also extends into a curiousity about food :)

The biggest advantage of food lovers like you and Mark are that you are not scared in experimenting a new cuisine be it at your own bastion or different countries. A classic example, that I can think of is your recent visit to India where you really tried some unconventional chaat items and thoroughly relished . Could watch and feel the joy that you experienced. It’s the culinary adventure to try something new that clearly excites you and in that way you become a part of that community from an experience stand point . Kudos to you for taking efforts to dish out such experiences to us . Please don’t take it otherwise I love to watch every frame of a vlog that I like and hence my question. Blessed to be alive Joel and Li. I love walking around you find hidden gems, sometimes you even make friends along the way. Hotpot is always good and fun, it is like drinking a bowl of hot soup especially on a cold day to warm you up or when you have a flu to make you feel better😊the sauce seem to be the seller for this dish.
