Google pulls up nothing on "coronal moss" except this video. Is it an actual term or are you just using "moss" as a descriptor?

@zivzulander 25 күн бұрын
It appears to have originated with the 1998 NASA TRACE mission. From a paper from 2000: "`Moss'' is the name given to low-lying (~3000 km), hot (~1 MK) solar coronal plasma that has been observed recently by the Transition Region and Coronal Explorer (TRACE)" (The Astrophysical Journal, Volume 537, Issue 1, pp. 471-480). Presumably it's not a common term because there hasn't been a lot of other footage or close angle shots like this showing it before.

I've got a good few questions about all this. Most importantly, is this real time speed? And what the hell scale are we looking at? How large are these things that we're seeing?

I’d say the video is slowed down by some margin and those pillars of plasma are multiple Earths high.

The small eruption looks like a mermaid jumping out of the water and then it's tail splashing back.
