The story was written by kamal sir and kamal sir roped in sundar .c not sundar. C roped kamal screenplay was written by kamal dialogues was written by kamal sundar.c said once I was roped into anbe sivam

I DID NOT see even a speck of Sundar C. in "Anbe Sivam"!! All I saw was Kamal Hassan in every frame (talking from the direction / captain of the ship - point of view). I also know that it was not his story but inspired by a Hollywood movie. I LIKED THIS version better. KAMAL excelled in histrionics. SUPERIOR performance. Aptly supported by MADDY. And even Yugi Sethu was phenomenal. The ENTIRE cast was very good. Nasser, as best, as usual! The movie in my IMHO is 9.9/10. Only glitch was that Kiran Rathod could have been replaced with someone who could dub their own Tamil dialogues. But it was HER best so far (in Tamil movies). BUT Sundar C. has the right to talk about the loss, ONLY because he CO-PRODUCED it! If he meant his direction capability was wasted, it is a joke.

I'm of the firm view that Anbe Sivam should be digitally re-mastered in a70MM/3D format and relauched-not rereleased. Now that the concept of crowd funding is in vogue it is possible. Come on Team Anbe Sivam. An all time classic,without a doubt.Beyond Sundar.C,Kamal and Madhavan the real heroes are the Art Director and the Producer.Best wishes.

Anbe Sivam is a movie classic. A message so deftly said. Magnum Opus of Kamal Hassan. Lovely script,brilliant acting,intellegent comedy,great direction. Perhaps fans were not mature and evolved enough to appreciate it . The film deserved an Oscar if not better .
