Explaining the exact count is very helpful to those still learning. Yes, you can figure it out by ear, when you train your ear. Great video. I very much like this series. Very clear and precise. Well done.

All of your videos are outstanding. Cheers to you for making them. My son is 7 and has been taking lessons and learning "Back in Black" on his own. Your videos have helped him begin to "get it" so he can start to put it together with the music. He wants to learn Sunday Bloody Sunday next because he likes the military style beat. Thank you for breaking this one down. I don't know where I'm at skill wise but I admit that this one scares me because rhythmically it's "illogical" and improvised. This makes it sound more concise and clear.

Sure, that's what I did! Some drummers might not be very good at picking out some of the more subtle things in Larry's playing though. That's hopefully where I can help :)

Thanks for the video. It wasn’t until I heard this I realized I was playing it wrong. I’d start with a 2 stick quad (LLRR) on the snare and a 5th snare note on 1 with the bass. On the high hat I’d play paradiddles. Sounds very similar but the feel is different.

Thanks a lot, this was really helpful! :-) This song is the reason why I nowadays is a huge U2 fan (I saw the Red Rocks video on MTV in the early nineties.) The drum part is epic! I bought me some drum pads just to finally learn this one. No bass drum but I can tap my foot anyway I guess. :-D How common is it, do you think, that people are inspired by a specific song when choosing to play an instrument? I remember being inspired by U2 when I picked up playing guitar. I think Sunday Bloody Sunday was one of the first songs I learned to play, actually...

+Lena Drake I think a LOT of people get inspired by specific songs and bands to take up their instrument. Falling in love with songs and bands...and then the drums in those songs, was the reason that I now play.

+Lena Drake Oh, many songs...and I'm not in the mood for listing because it will require way too much brain power on my part! :) Let me just say than my Mum and Dad loved 60's and 70's music, and I'm a kid of the 80/90's who never grew bored of music to this day.
