Thank you, Kelli!!! LOL about still needing more!!! I know what you mean! I was driving over to Pensacola this morning to pick my daughter up from the airport and I was looking at all the empty lots on the way there and thinking, “We could grow so many plants there!” Then I got tickled because I thought that God thinks the same thing about empty ground because He fills in bare spaces with plants all of the time, even cracks in the sidewalk!

Hi Rachel. I thought your garden couldn't get more beautiful. Well, I was wrong. It really is stunning. You must be so happy to walk through those colours, textures, and perfumes. We have had a week of cold, wet, and windy weather, absolutely horrible and more like October than June. I didn't even venture out into my garden for days, so yesterday, when it was only foggy and cold, so much had changed. Today, there was sunshine, what bliss to be playing outside again, digging up here, transplanting there, a real delight. Rose blooms and honeysuckle are the plants of the moment, and the dahlias are ready to be planted out, as are the vegetable plants that I've been protecting in the mini greenhouse I'd like to say that it's all systems go, but you never can tell. Never a dull moment 😅. Thank you so much for sharing 💖

Your garden is magnificent and at a wonderful climax in it's symphony right now. The millet is adding exclamation points on the story being displayed. How do you even come inside? At one point I thought maybe you are missing an opportunity to earn some money by creating a jigsaw puzzle from all the gorgeous views and selling the puzzle for creating donations for some worthy cause. I saw a video this morning about a man that has dedicated his life to getting fresh clean water to the millions in our world that don't have that luxury. I'm so happy for him to have found this 'calling' and couldn't help but think about your garden and the joy you share with others with these videos. We each have our special talents that assist God in making this world a beautiful and loving place. Thank you for your sharing and what you are doing.

Oh, Mary!!! Thank you! Your calling is stringing words together to make sense of things seen and heard. I always think “poetic” when I read your comments! You paint pictures with words!!! I used your description of the purple majesty millet as exclamation points in the garden because that perfectly describes them, and people would know what that looks like even if they couldn’t see it for themselves. Being able to describe things like that is such a gift! Are you a writer? - Wouldn’t this world be such a different place if we all were able to use our gifts all of the time and didn’t have to worry about whether they were economically viable?

@@gulfcoastbutterflygardening I have the supreme gift of being retired! Now I wonder how in the world I got stuff done before - use to quilt, scrapbook, sew, garden, preserve, cook, it was busy since I worked horribly long hours and never got to do much of what I really wanted - write. I have attempted to write the bible into handmade books and illustrate them so they are fun to look at while reading. I always said the reason homework was so important was it helped us to remember the things we were trying to learn - hence my desire write the bible. I was only going to do the new testament but I got side tracked at the end of Matthew and haven't picked back up. I did make copies for my immediate family members and am proud of that. The little kids love looking through them at the pictures. Makes me so happy. I will pick back up but at 78, I don't have a lot of time left.How in the world do people have struggles with finding things to do. Those are words I'll never be able to say - that's for sure. Too many wonderful things in this world and people to share it with. Your channel is really sweet and certainly get a big dose of the beauty of nature and I so appreciate what you do. Thank you so much for this site! It's a treasure for sure.

Thanks for today’s tour! The up side of gardening using containers is moving them from place to place without disrupting their roots and stressing them out. The commitment of raising the butterflies can become a bit much, we’ve lost so many eggs leaving in the garden so I’m trying covering the fennel with toile hopefully they will have a better chance of survival I don’t mind raising a few but not all of them 😂 We desperately need rain the garden is struggling with high 90’s temps so am I 🙃 Wish we could share photos on KZfaq. See you next week happy gardening and God bless.

Thank you for watching my garden tour!!! - Being able to move things around is my most favorite part of container gardening! I can be fearless in placing things because I know that if I don’t like it or if the plant doesn’t like it, then we’ve got options! - Oh, yes! That’s smart to cover the eggs and caterpillars!!! Let me know how that works out! I might have to try that! Because I also love to raise butterflies, but sometimes, I don’t want to. LOL! - I hope that you have had rain by now!!! Having to water the garden every day gets old really fast, and it just barely keeps things happy. They want water from the sky like kids want happy meals. Haha! - Can you post photos of your garden on Pinterest? I’m on Pinterest as Gulf Coast Butterfly Gardening. I would love to see your garden!!!

@@gulfcoastbutterflygardening the toile didn’t work out will try again because I should have wrapped it around the pot instead of just trying to cover the plants 🧐 We finally got good rains last week and everything perked up so nicely and loads of new butterflies 👏👏Dealing with powdery mildew and mealy bugs now. Your garden is a joy to behold as always. I cracked up at the Nights of the Plants Jubilee. Plant adventures! I love your Peter Rabbit garden. So charming. We have had so much rain in SE Texas this spring and early summer. And crazy wind storms. Lost part of my fence. I had to move some of my plants, so the fence can be repaired. I have to tell you I've created a little pot garden on my patio. I have some roses, daisies, pentas, salvia, gomphrena, agastache, bee balm, and a number herbs. I'll have to monitor because our summer sun can be too much even for the "full sun" plants. But I also bought a big patio umbrella to provide some shade if I see them suffering. All that too say you've certainly inspired me to think outside the box!

Oh, Keith!!! I’m sorry that y’all have been having such crazy and damaging weather!!! Isn’t it funny that instead of throwing in the towel on gardening when the going gets tough that it just makes us gardeners get more creative with our gardening?!? You can’t keep a good gardener down! And WOW! It doesn’t sound like you have a little pot garden going! It sounds like you’ve got an entire garden going on your patio! I love the idea of getting a patio umbrella to give them some shade if they need it!!! My garden gets so limp in the afternoon, as if it is saying, “Um, I know that I said that I liked full sun, but where are we….the surface of the sun?!?”

Good morning! Looks amazing! Yes it is definitely the peak time when everything is at its best. I thought I had better do a video for my own records. I wrote down the name of that fantastic zebrina hollyhock. Hopefully next year I can find the seeds. I bought a pink “butterfly candy” buddleia bush yesterday. I have 2 purple “pugsters” but had been hearing about the butterfly candy & wanted a pink one so I bought it. Now I have to figure out where to plant it. lol There is only so much room for these things I sporadically buy. Ugh. Have a great week. Hugs from GA❤

Thanks, Linda!!! Yay about the pink butterfly candy buddleia!!! I bought two last year because I couldn’t resist them, but they were hit by the freeze during the winter. One of them I cut back all the way, and the other I let limp along. The limper has bloomed a little bit, but it’s still limping. The other one looks way healthier and may bloom soon! So I’ve learned my lesson with that. Don’t be afraid to cut it to the quick when it needs it! - LOL about not having anymore space! Sometimes when I feel like I don’t have anymore space, I start thinking that the driveway has so much gardening potential. LOL! Containers to the rescue!!! I am so mesmerized by your container garden, really looks so happy and lush. I also have most of my "collections"? in containers for lack of actual dirt. Guess you could say my plant wants exceed my planting dirt!😅 I've been stressing with a decision on whether I should install some type of drip system So far I can't fathom such a system would be satisfactory with the way I move things around. So far I water everything by hand. However that causes me to be unable to go away for any extended time. So I hear you say you use overhead sprinklers? Do you have them on timers? With having plants so close together, I'd be concerned with fungal problems yet I don't notice this on your plants. So you don't really experience alot of problems with overhead watering? How long do you let a sprinkler run in the morning? Well anyway, looks wonderful. I lust after your Gertrude jeckyl!😂😂
@gulfcoastbutterflygardening
@gulfcoastbutterflygardening 2 ай бұрын
Thank you, Wendy!!! LOL about your plant needs exceeding your dirt limitations! That’s very true for every gardener! Haha!!! - I know what you mean about agonizing over putting in a drip irrigation system. I’ve thought about it myself and shopped for them and priced them, but it’s just too fiddly for me to want to deal with. I bet it would be fabulous though! - I use regular sprinklers. Oh, I videoed them going the other morning! I will add that to tomorrow’s video! I don’t even have them on a timer, but from what I’ve heard, they are inexpensive and easy to use. - It is surprising that everything is growing together as well as it is right now without fungal problems. Although, the hydrangeas will get brown spots on them, and I think that is from the overhead watering. I run the sprinklers for about an hour every morning if it hasn’t rained. - Isn’t Gertrude Jekyll so fabulous?!? I wish you could smell her! She’s a right good rose, that one!

Lovely sunday morning to work . Do you know if you can save seeds from your holleyhock. I grew mine from a seed package but only was able to get 2 to germinate. Are they perennial? How much of our Alabama sun can they tolerate? Have you thought about a hibiscus mallow on your bare area. Their blooms are awesome

Thank you!!! I bet I can save seeds on those zebrina hollyhocks! I might even have some out there now! They are perennials, but only up to zone 8. I guess zone 9 temps are too much for them. And I can tell that the poor things are starting to struggle now. Only two of mine bloomed and another one has one flower on it at the moment. I wonder if I should have started them from seed in the fall? I might do that a try! - You know what loves the Alabama heat AND is a perennial AND is related to mallows?!? Okra! I need to grow more mallows for sure! And okra, too! I’ll look into that hibiscus mallow! We have giant mallows that grow in Gulf State Park, and they are lovely!!!
