I bought one of these on 3-7-2019. I finally had a chance to take it to the range after 7 months. With less then 20 rounds thru it I stopped trying to get practice aiming it. Could not even hit the target 30 feet away. I stopped because the thumb piece would not open the cylinder after six rounds. had to experiment to get it opened. called S&W they sent me return label. took 2 months to get it back. 2 days ago I finally had a chance to get to range. could not hit target. adjusted elevation screw counter clockwise for a total of 5 times. still a foot away from bullseye. called S&W today and asked how many times can I turn that elevation screw counter clockwise till I run out of adjustment. he did not know. does anyone know after turning the elevation screw all the way till it won't turn clockwise anymore, how many counter clockwise turns is a good starting point to start all over again? I'm talking about like when you adjust small engine carburetor. the directions say turn in the screw all the way in and then back it out ( like 2 turns) as a starting point

I kind of liked the permit law, they were already easy to get and it gave a lot of people with zero knowledge on guns some basic instructions.

@@barryperdue7520 too much like hard work, the regulations are totally anti gun here, i have 2 x 12 bore shotguns, and it took me 5 months and 2 inspections of my property and gun safe to get a licence. I live on a farm on private property and have about 200 acres to shoot on. I'm a veteran, a military shotgun and small arms instructor and it still took 5 months.

A day when all my kids and grandkids who normally cant get together all come to my house and we have a day together. Maybe your not a Father or Grandfather. So I settle into my recliner, surrounded by my two Springer Spaniels, and see that '45 has his Model 29 on the table.... heave myself up and retrieve my own 29-2 4" , sans ammo of course, then get back to the video. Life is indeed good.

I have a S&W model 1917. The best I can tell from my S&W Bible it was produced in early 1918. It in unbelievable shape for it's age. It's the oldest revolver I own

I've been reloading for over 30 years. And as you do, I load up to factory specs for practice of defensive loads. Then I go to friendlier rounds with same ballistics as defensive at about 90% power. Point of aim doesn't change at practice distances. Reloading means I'm never at the mercy of the marketplace. In times of plenty I stock up so when things go south I'm still in business. Life is good :o)

Taught language in middle school for 39 years. Just retired a few years back. I do miss it a lot, but like you, I don't think I really want to go back. Education policies had changed so much in my last years of teaching. Guess that's a generational thing. A lot of teachers I had probably thought the same thing in regards to the profession. Still, I enjoyed teaching with no regrets about making it a career. Time for other things now - like shooting. Thanks for your Sunday Shoot a Rounds.

I was in a private school with a pretty conservative orientation; however, the level of micromanagement in all of education has reached an undesirable level. Every time a high-level administrator reads a new book about "innovation" in education, the teachers and students at that school are in jeopardy. :-) I was in a good situation, but the silliness even there was getting almost unbearable, at least for somebody with an independent nature, as I am guilty of. I loved the kids, the material I was teaching, and the actual teaching; however, the goofiness one has to tolerate from some administration policies renders the actual profession less desirable these days. Because of this, I could not recommend a teaching profession for anybody with common sense; you're likely not going to stick with it very long.

When it comes to weight and debt, I heard many years ago, that the key to losing either is to get passionate about it. I've never had trouble with severe weight gain, but I am not a rich man, but have been debt free for many years now and it is the most satisfying feeling to have a little money in one's pocket and the ability to buy what my family needs without asking for a loan. Thanks for the vid Hickok, John.

I have that exact model. Purchased in 1973 for $350 which was huge bucks back then. Back then the blueing was bright and highly polished. When my eyes were young, I put five out of six in a six inch bullseye target at 100 yards with a standing elbow rest table. They came in a mahogany presentation case which I still have.

My grandfather had a very similar pistol. It's definitely one fine piece of work and was a blast getting to shot with. I'll never forget my first time firing his.

You're absolutely right Hickok, it is pretty amazing whenever there's a problem i can just run into the shop. Part breaks and i can't find a replacement, i just make one. And that's not even taking into account the variety of weapons that comes through i get to handle and take out to test fire i might not ever see up close otherwise.

Once, a long time ago, i took the sideplate of my S&W. Curious.. Some springs jumped out all over. Never found that one little one again. Ended up at my gunsmith with a bag of parts and a 'please' in my eyes.. I learned my limmitations there for sure ;-) Greets, T.

Me too! 7 1/2" blue. My reloads destroy S&W 29's /629s. Smith's & Ruger's are beautiful but you can't shoot the Redhawk to death.

Love my S&W 586 6”! Checked with S&W and found it was born 1981. I mainly shoot 38 special wad cutter reloads. Beautifully made firearms. 1 day I will find a 29.

They have been coming for our guns for years. I remember Saturday Night Specials. When they were the target. I remember pre 1968 there were guns in the Sears catalog. You could buy guns anywhere. And you know I think we were safer then than now.

You should come to Rockford IL for the gangster nationals. There are a few events. There's the 2 block drive by. Shoot into a crowd and hit the right target. There is a running and shooting sideways event where you have to hide from the camera. There is the alley long distance urban shoot. It's fun for all. They hold it every night and the weekends are the biggest crowds.

The old N-frames were beautiful guns. I just couldn't afford one in the seventies. Many sheriffs and police in Arizona carried the model 28. I would buy one now, but can't get past the dumb key locks. Another good review of a beautiful gun.
